I have a Revoloution triad zero and the conti mountain king rear looks about done.
I can obviously just replace the rear with the same as they've been pretty good in most condiitons but I though I'd see if there were better alternatives.
Most of the riding I do is muddy/rocky tracks and fire roads, I don't ride on tarmac at all if I can help it and I don't mind the wet boggy bits. Jumping is unlikely at this stage but I do tend to go over obsticles rather than around. Any suggestions as to the best rubber?

Unfortunately this is a "how long is a piece of string" question! Every single person who replies will have a favourite, and they will all be different!
What i can say is that the more you pay, the grippier the tyre is likely to be, but generally the shorter time it will last for!
For what it's worth i'm a Nobby Nic fan. Not THE grippiest tyre, but a good alrounder and not so draggy you are swearing at them after a nice long fire road climb etc!
Not cheap mind, especially in the UST "triple compound" favour my Zesty likes..........

Lots of people seem to rate Nobby Nics but I hated them, no grip and punture after punture.
Bought some Conti Rubber Queens (black chilli) and they have been great.
But as said above everyone will have a different opinion on this topic.
Just to add I ride over Dartmoor so mud, rocks, grass, wet or dry. I will get some more when they have worn out.

I understand that tyres are a pretty personal thing, but as I'm just getting back into mountain bikes after a few years off I'd like some opinions weather they're biased or not (mainly to avoid buying whatever the shop have on special).
I'm not too worried about the tyres wearing quickly as long as they're reasonably puncture resistant and grippy while they're alive.

Ah a fair point. I'm big (6'2") heavy 100KG+ and clumsy. I like rocky bumpy stuff that I can go tanking over like a slightly controlled missle, as well as needing traction in the boggy bits to get to the fun stuff.
I'd rate my abuse level at around 3 out of 5, it would be more but I'm currently scared of jumping.

I've tried a lot of tyres over the years and the new-ish Conti's in Race Sport spec are simply excellent. Extremely light, very very very fast, and good pinch-flat resistance if you run them at sufficient pressure, and even the lightly treaded race tyres find grip where they really shouldn't be able too.
For the money this package is unbeatable IMO. They're a great all weather fast rolling tyre that can take some abuse. Just don't go silly with very low tyre pressures.

The cheap version are rubbish, the Black Chilli ones are meant to be a lot better.I like High Roller rear, Minion DHF front, or for a lighter setup Nobby Nic 2.2 front and NN 2.1 rear.

Conti's! Some luv em, some hate em. I've always said they are the slippiest, sketchiest fecking things I've ever tried. Just ripped the MK's off a bike as they are shyte - for me anyway!Each to their own, tyres a very personal choice!

I remember thinking I was too cool for school when I had Ritchey Z Max's on my bike.
I'm in same boat as you. Coming back to MTB properly for the first time since mid/late 90's and i'm lost!
