Bah and Humbug to the lot of you! Except Magpie. Losing your bike is pretty s
t, but that doesn't sound weather-related?
I left work early today to get home in time to go and collect my new car stereo from the post office (only to find the lazy f
kers knock off at 5, not 5:30, but that's another story), which meant 15.3 miles home in torrential rain.
OK, so I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get my boots dry by the morning - Goretex holds water entered through your socks via osmosis in just as well as it keeps it out over the rest of the boot - but on the flip side, it was pretty warm, so I was fine in shorts, a T shirt and a jacket.
Yes, I got drenched, but then at least I was coming home to a hot shower and dry clothes. Far better than all the silly sods who'd obviously ducked out of the office for a few minutes to go to the shops unprepared, and were desperately trying (and miserably failing) not to get drenched on the way back!
Furthermore, brakes which are, at best, terrifying in the rain add a whole new dimension of thought and sphincter clenching to navigating CS7. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the nice young lady apologising profusely for stepping out in front of me in Tooting without looking with her earphones in. If only more young ladies would apologise when my face finds itself slowly, majestically yet, as a result of the aforementioned brakes unavoidably planted into the side of their remarkably pleasing right breast, then the world would be a better place! Come the summer, it'll all be restraining order this and indecent assault that, but with the rain on your side, it's "oh, I'm terribly sorry!"
This afternoon, the weather was staggeringly s
t.
This afternoon, it was still a good day to be a cyclist in London!
Now, if someone could just arrange no rain on Sundays so I can get out on my lovely new road bike on club runs now the rugby season has finished, that'll be me delighted!

I feel so amongst friends
The thing that's annoying me most is this week it's been crap and horrible rides to/from work. Today I have to drive (going to the O2 straight from work for comedy night), anyway...today; glorious sun this morning.
I blame the government.

I don't mind the rain, its the puddles on my daily commute that get me. If its just started raining in the morning I go on the bike, if its been hose-banning it down all night I take the car
This morning was a nice ride though, lovely sunrise, cool [head
] winds and hardly any traffic. On the flip side, Tuesday was a s
tter, drenched through and seeing as it is now classed as 'Summer' in my building the radiators weren't on to dry the clothes out.....

Well this evening was a bit of a bugger. 16 miles of clear, dry skies and a bloody headwind every inch of the way.
I often wonder if I look decidely odd to the cars who overtake, pedalling my little heart out, panting like a swamp donkey running upstairs for a buffet, but getting nowhere due to the bloody f
king wind here in Southampton. It whips up the Solent and seems to be in my face for both parts of my commute.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
