What could possibly go wrong?
Tomorrow morning, very early, I'll be doing the Land's End to Exeter leg of a 9 day jaunt up to the top of the country. (I know Dunnet's Head is further North, and Lizard Point is further South, but everyone knows this route.)
I'll pop in when I can get internet in the evenings and update with progress, but it should be a laugh. There are three of us, on road bikes, with my Dad driving a support car. Our mileages will be something like:
120, 80, 125, 110, 110, 90, 100, 90, 80. I think. So just over 100 miles a day.
Looking out the window to see the rain LASHING it down, I'm a bit nervous!

I rode to down to Dartmoor from Bucks over Easter - about 200 miles and the west country is in my opinion very pretty but a wretched place to ride - full of hills that just keep coming at you. And no matter which way you ride the wind is always in your face.

Impressive stuff - which route are you doing? I did it a while ago but did a longer, flatter route (Dad's choice, I was 14) which totalled 1033 miles.Just doing it with a couple of friends, and a support car.

Today was A30 to Bodmin then over Dartmoor to Exeter. Tomorrow is A38 to Bristol. After that we're into Wales, briefly, the Shrewsbury, past Liverpool, Kendal and Carlisle. Then we branch West to the West of Glasgow, past Loch Lomond, to Fort William, to Inverness, then straight up.It should be a route that is quick, but still pretty scenic. About 920 - 950 miles, or thereabouts.

Great stuff fella - kept my eyes peeled for some bedraggled cyclists coming into Exeter, but didn't see you.
Thats a decent average speed to have maintained around here as well, tailwind or not.
There was some decent rain about in the west of the county today as well which is always nice...but as pointed out the tailwind should have taken the edge off that!!

Good luck! I did it 2 years ago, 1st 2 weeks of May - carried all my own gear and camped all the way up apart from a couple of B&B's which we turned up to along the way, bike weighed a tonne! The 1st 3-4 days were the worst for me with all the hills.
You'll have a great time - weather will be quite changeable & you'll probably experience every type of weather too along the way.

Apologies for the radio silence, our accomodation the last couple of nights haven't had wifi.
Day 2 was 97 miles at 17 mph up through Cheddar Gorge and through the rain to Bristol.
Day 3 was 116 miles at 16.25 mph, over the Severn Bridge and through the wind to Ellesmere.
Today was Day 4, and 118 miles at about 13 mph, up to Kendal. It was terrible. It only stopped raining for the last hour. And we had 45 - 50 mph gusts of head wind all day. It was s
t, but it's done now.
