Started Cycling around September. Last couple of months, I've been experiencing some pain around my right foot. At first it was along the big toe at the side and felt like the nerve had been damaged then similar effects started to be felt along the outside of my foot. I've now got pain which comes just below my heel with stretching my calf out.

I've not had any problem in my other foot but I've also dropped the exercise levels because of this. The pain seems to move rather than go away.

Is it go see my GP time? Im not a fan of visiting the doctor which is why I haven't been yet. I feel as if I'm wasting their time.

It might not need medical treatment (of course I don't know this for sure), you may just need a wedge under the cleat or in your shoe but you'll need a bike fit to find out how much and where.

You need to post a little more information.
Injury history in said area?
Are you using cleats? MTB, Road bike? type of riding and duration? Seat and post position?
Not saying it will resolve the problem but without it its almost impossible.

I started on mtb SPDs on a road bike, then bought SPD L pedals for it. I then bought an mtb too and used the old SPDs on that so not quite sure which one is going me the problem. Seat angle is pretty flat, maybe 1 degree tilted up to stop sliding forward. Seat is moved back on the seatpost.

I don't think its the mtb, I think its the road bike as I have been doing 40-60 mile rides on it.

Well i've got the pain off the bike now, but thought it was a symptom of being on it. I'm not sure on my shoes, DHB road shoes. Theyre pretty narrow, but I've tried running them slightly looser. I dont know if its because the actual footbed is narrow but I dont imagine that there are many wide footbed bike shoes?

Try some flatties and trainers you know are comfortable for a few rides. And try not to ride more than one change at a time or you'll never get to the bottom of it.

Is there somewhere local that you can get your bike fitted, it sounds postural and maybe due to your position on the bike, as has been said try cycling in trainers that you know to be comfortable, this will rule out the shoe issue. If problems persists despite resolving any bike fit issues you may have developed a chronic musculo skeletal irritation, so maybe see a sports physio preferably one with cycling interest.

I'll try the shoe option and see how that goes. I think theres one not too far away who specialises in bike fitting, so I'll sound them out.
