I've recently bought some tub wheels which came with tyres fitted with tape. However I need to replace one of the tubs so am wondering if I can re-use the existing tape or whether its worth replacing the tape with glue?

Thanks,

Glue. Have heard too many horror stories of rolling the tub when using tape.

FWIW I did 4 *thin* layers of Vittoria Mastik 1 on the rim and 1 layer on the basetape - it's essential to prep carbon rims properly using meths before the first layer goes down

Glue every time for me would never trust tape, back in th eday always used Tubasti glue but now have two tins of Continental glue in the garage, seems easy to use and sticks very well

Glue, tape is OK to get you home on a spare tub but glue it on soon as possible.

I rolled a tub years ago that I never got round to glueing on after a change on the road.

Also note that there is tub glue for alloy rims and different glue for Carbon rims.

Glue is glue, I know Conti make a special "carbon" glue but it's same stuff as the other one wink

After seeing how easy it was to remove the old taped tub, I've ordered some glue.

Tape all day, every day - in 25+ years of using tubs and tape - I have never had an issue.

Tape works for me. Having said that, they're never on for more than about a week before I have to go buy a new one.
