I woudnt trust that much weight hanging off the back without a tow bar supporting it personally. I've had bad experience of the strap type racks with just two bikes on them. Its not just the weight but the distance from the it sticks out unsupported though i appreciate the adult bikes will be the innermost.
If they do a four bike rack, the Saris Bones are very popular so they might be worth a look

It's a shame you don't have a tow bar, as that would be by far the best way of carrying the bikes; more secure, easier to load and you can still access the boot (depending on model).
4 bikes on a strap on rack sounds like a lot. How about a roof rack system?

If you've gone to the expense of buying a CAyenne, then a 500 quid towbar (fitted) and a 300 quid Thule rack seems the right solution. Just get a removable towbar if you don't like the looks, but get 13-pin electrics. That's what Thule racks are fitted with and what the whole of the towing community is moving towards (more quickly in mainland Europe, of course).

Your are mixing Cayenne up with expensive, the solution you give would be in excess of 10% of the car.I never got the car just so I could ferry bikes about, it would be a twice a year holiday thing.
The strap-on rear racks aren't so cheap when they do hundreds of pounds of damage to your tailgate and bumper.
Do you have roof rails? If so - for new kit, roofbox.co.uk do a pack of four Cruz racks plus roofbars for £120 delivered. They won't last as well as the Thule stuff, but if you're only putting them on the car for a couple of weeks a year on holiday then they'll be fine.
Worth keeping an eye on ebay too, used roofbars and bike carriers often come up and are usually cheap - eg. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Porsche-Tequipme...

Just ordered £400 of Thule gear to go on the top of my 5 Series Touring. Depending what you need, that might be better than hanging stuff off the back.
There will be full details on the Thule website, so you xan work out what you need. Then shop around the internet, and see how cheap you can get it for.
I then called an approved Thule retailer, and he ordered it all in for me for a few quid more than getting it delivered from 3 places on the internet. (Better to have it all from one place, and he must make a profit, as the three companies selling to me would have to, and there is no postage when i collect it locally.)
