Evening all,

I have a challenge with my morning commute; I'm really struggling to get myself going. My legs feel dead, and I'm struggling to overcome it at the moment.

The evening ride, on the other hand, feels much, much better. Everything works as it's supposed to (except the traffic in South West London this evening!!), and I feel like I could comfortably turn round and ride back again by the time I get home.

The only real difference I can see between the two is that by the evening ride, I've had a decent breakfast and a decent lunch. Problem is, what can I do about the mornings? I'm crap at riding on a full stomach, and as I have to be on the bike by 7, I'd have to set the alarm for absolutely stupid o'clock to get up, get breakfast and have time to let it digest before setting off.

What sort of things do others eat if they're riding early? It's only 15 miles, so it doesn't need to be anything substantial - just the right sort of thing to quickly prime the pump.

Lastly, given that the vile yellow snot-sticks always seem to pop up in threads like this, I CAN'T STAND BANANAS!!! hehe

For my 27 mile commute I have a portion of porridge, couple of slices of toast and a shot of espresso, it mostly seems to do the trick and sits quite nicely on my stomach.

I've also tried bagels in place of toast and quite often that threatens to come back out half way there!

For bigger rides I always have a big can of baked beans and half a packet of jaffa cakes. Guarantee you will have a following wind all the way. smile
