Front Derailleur
Discussion
Well after noticing on my last ride that the bike really struggled to go from the big cog to the smallest cog at the front, I thought I would have a crack at fixing it. I am not the most mechanical savvy, but I am getting better slowly.
So after reading loads of guides online and even watching youtube clips, I was fairly confident. Yet many hours later after re-adjusting the derailleur to every position, I had given up and was ready to book it into the local bike shop.
Anyway after walking away and coming back again just to have a quick look I found the cause of the problem! The spring inside had become full of gunk and wasn't returning to position properly, so a little clean and a lot of lube later and we are back in business! Probably a 5 minute job if I realised this at the start, but guess we all have to start somewhere!
Thought I would share.. Anyone else turned a small job into a bigger job than it should have been?
Cheers,
Ant

Not bike related, but relevant to pistonheads all the same. I have an ambulance that I'm converting into a camper van. I spent ages taking out this huge 'siren' only to realise it was actually the hot air intake fan, and not a siren at all. Cue 3 hours of putting it back in again. I still havent tracked down all the unnecessary wires and fuses, but have removed what feels like a couple of miles of cabling.
