It can go two ways;
1: you will hate it and never do it again
or
2: you will love (first lap) enjoy it (2nd lap) not enjoy (3rd lap) hate it (4th lap...about 3:00 on the morning) begin loving it again (5th lap at in the morning) any extra laps a bonus and brilliant.............then your hooked for the foresable future!!
its a seriously good weekend with a cracking atmosphere - have you done any other events like it? Plymouth twentyfour 12 is better still but a smaller event.

No never done anything like this before, just done some of the trails like Dalby, lee quarry and Sherwood pines. so looking forward to it, from doing it last year what would you say the course was like? not sure what i should be expecting, flowing like Sherwood pines or just constant steep climbs and DH like Dalby,
my lights came today too and done first bit of night riding and loved it, new favorite thing ha.

1st time for me and one of the other members so not sure what to expect, now its confirmed though having take training for it more serious. looking forward to it, from everything i have heard its a cracking do.
Never been, but heard plenty of good things. Plus the organiser, Pat Adams, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet
Its hard work & every year they seem to make it harder! Flowing like Sherwood pines - no, Grueling steep climbs - very yes! downhill like Dalby - no. There is usually some nice singletrack sections and some good downhills runs but just remember that this is a endurance race - its not like trail centers where the courses have been around for ages and are tailored for a perfect MTB experience, its a new course cut every year and made to test your endurance but with some nice sections here and there (if it was all hard work nobody would bother doing it!).
My memorys from last year were the horrible sections through some weird clay like mud/earth that seemed to be like hands coming out of the ground and holding your bike (was still the same even after it had dried out), and the course's endless hill that you seemed to be cycling up for the entire lap (1hr ish for me) followed with a 20 second blast back down at the end. Still love it though so can't wait for this year.

Its always a tough course usually about 9 miles with at least 1200ft of climbing per lap.
If it rains at Mayhem then your in a world of hurt and broken bikes, do not underestimate this. Take as many spares as you can lay your hands on. And take every piece of cycling clothing you own, dry kit is a blessing at 4am.
The best advice I can give you is make sure your team is all on the same page before it starts. For example your all doing it for fun and the experience or your all taking it seriously and want to get as many laps in as possible. If you have one guy with cross ambitions it causes big problems - usually at 3am when the next person is not ready for the handover!
Its a great event with a very friendly atmosphere so enjoy it!
