When I go on holiday, I like to know I've got all my hotels and travel arrangements booked in advance.
On our holiday in 2002, Mrs Kermit declared a desire to be spontaneous and not book anything in advance for 3 days out of the three week holiday....
The destination was Capetown, and the dates were March the 8th, 9th & 10th.
The Cape Argus took place on the 10th.
From the 8th to the 12th, Australia played ZA in a cricket test in Capetown.
On the 8th, the Stormers played the Wellington Hurricanes in a Super 12 fixture in Capetown.
Would anyone care to guess just how f
king close to the centre of Capetown we managed to find a hotel?
Strangely, since then Mrs Kermit has never again mentioned the idea of injecting spontaneity into our travel arrangements!
Someone told me that BA fly a 747 mostly full of cyclists there and back every year, plus a parallel cargo flight to carry all their bikes. I'd love to know whether this is true or not.
