My 5 year old rockhopper has sat outside (through rain, snow etc) on and off for the last three years. It seems to ride okay, all the nuts and chain are rusty, brake levers are broken. Cosmetically the frame has seen better days but doesnt appear damaged as such.

My sons are riding regularly now and we want to venture onto longer rides (riversides and canals mainly).

Is it worth spending money on new brakes and levers and seat or just ditch it and invest in a new one?

Thanks in advance

Fix it up with budget chain, saddle & levers first of all then at least it's ready to use whilst you have it advertised. Merlin, All terrain cycles & Highonbikes (ebay store) are good for decent cheap bits.

I have a pair of v-brake levers that came off my 2005 rockhopper and also a good saddle going spare.
