Canyon Bike

As the search doesn't work, just wondered if anyone has a Canyon MTB.

I am looking at a Grand Cayon AL 6.0 in white, not bothered about testing first as bought my last bike like this, a cube which lasted well, but I loved the bike I fancy a change of brand.

have a friend with a canyon roadie who loves it, all the things that people enthuse about, fast, light, responisve, stiff etc.... looking at the grand canyon myself but geometry wise they look quite stretched?

I thought that too, against my old cube it is 5 cm longer wheelbase, but I did think the cube felt cramped. More of a GT.

Canyon seem to get nothing but good reviews on here.

In fact, I plan on ordering a Nerve AM next week when I get paid.

Yes, I have been looking at the Nerve AM 9.0 X alongside Lapierre, Whyte, Orange, etc. They look terrific value and the feedback seems to be quite favourable.

I can't find a guide anywhere on their site as to sizing, any clues?

When you select a model you can calculate frame size by entering your measurements.

There should also be a link to geometry (about half way down the page) listing all the frame sizes.

I brought a Nerve XC8 back in June last year. been perfect - completed 5 events last year, mainly organised rides through UK Cycling events, etc....

It's now done about 650 miles, spend most sunday mornings covered in Mud at the local woods and apart from a creaking bottom bracket (which I just cover in WD40 prior to and after every ride) - it's fine - to be fair Canyon UK said they would pay for a BB service (upto £30) if I booked it in to the LBS.

Originally I order a Large, sent that back after 2 rides, as I decided to was just a little bit of a stretch for me, and exchanged for a medium. The whole process was fine. Glad I got the medium in the end as for me, at 5'11 and 32.5 inside leg - I've still got about 3 inches of seat post remaining.

How were they for changing the bike? Was it ok to say you just ordered the wrong size frame or did you need a better excuse?

I'm about 6 foot 5 and inside leg about 34 inch. Roughly measured myself and their size calculator suggested a large frame but I was thinking I'd need an xl - didn't want to get it wrong if I can't try a frame before buying.

From memory don't they have a 30-day no quibbles returns policy? Sure a quick surf of their website will confirm or otherwise.

I found their size calculator to be spot on for me but I'm fairly conventional proportions so not sure what you can read into that. I've been very pleased with my Nerve XC. Three people I regularly ride with have bought Canyons as a direct result of seeing/trying mine - I should be on commission!

I bought a Nerve XC 9.0 SL and an XC 8.0 W, very happy with both, parts spec is awesome and service, quality and process were all excellent.

Oh, and make sure you look at all the options available, their parts such as peddles etc are very cheap. I noticed after I had ordered from Evans

They appear excellent value for money, and get good reviews.

I very nearly pulled the trigger on a Nerve AM, but was offered a CTW scheme and it made more sense to go that way...

No issue at all. Called the UK number and told them I wanted a smaller one, they gave me a returns number. It all had to be logged back in Germany, which sent various automated emils telling you how to re-pack the bike, etc. It took 1 week from my initial phone call to the bike being picked up via UPS, then took I think 4 working days once the bike was back to the factory to be checked and re-ordered. The only trouble with mine was that the bikes were on back order so I had to wait another 5 weeks for a build slot, even though I had originally waited 3 weeks for the Large bike.

Glad I waited for the Medium though, as for me it is the right size.
