Ouch - be careful out there

I just found out that the roads around here have zero grip the hard way... All the snow, grime, road salt and a little moisture seems to have made a nice slippy goo which on the smooth surfaces where you normally go quick is absolutely lethal.
Turned into a corner at about 15mph... bike just went from under me, no chance of catching anything. Went down like a sack of s
t. Nice scars on my poor bike (shifter; pedal; derailleur), ripped my clothes and a some road rash. Had the bike for nearly a year and it was immaculate up to this morning 
...then spent the rest of my ride seriously pissing off the cars by taking all the corners at 5mph in the middle of the road. Even at that speed, I still lost the back end twice.
So... people who are going out on rides tomorrow morning round here (shepperton; chertsey; windsor) and I know there will be a couple on here: Be careful, it's bloody dangerous.

Best avoid would be my advice, unless if rains a bit tomorrow and cleans the roads a bit.
I helped a guy up in Richmond Park on Sunday afternoon. He went down right in front of me on a roundabout. If he hadn't, I would have.
There is a fairly lethal combination of salt, mud and ice about. What we really need is a couple of warmer days, where it absolutely pisses it down to wash the roads, followed by a nice windy day to dry them off.
Ride with care, and you'll be OK, but take it easy on the corners.

B375 on that 90 degree bend at abbey court. Wasn't the only place i "nearly" came off though... that was pretty much every corner.

I cycle round that very corner everyday! Yes it was dodgy this am, could be worse came round there once and there had been a huge diesel spill, I only saw it because the road was wet and created the rainbow effect....B375 on that 90 degree bend at abbey court. Roads have been horrid for a few weeks now...
I came a cropper on the A329 roundabout at Wokingham, entered the roundabout from Binfield at speed and the bike slid across both lanes until I was in the middle of the roundabout - managed to stay upright but both wheels actually drifted sideways like I was riding on polished marble!
Dropped the pace a bit afterwards and picked different lines through the corners which resulted in no more dramas!

What can I say, I've been riding all week. On Wednesday was doing silly sprints and stuff round here with no problem. Today I couldn't even turn into my drive.
I came off on the way to work on Weds - bike slipped out from under me as I was turning through traffic. Blinking gears aren't indexing now so it's in the LBS for repair. I'm currently hacking around on my old mountain bike which has even less grip on the roads with it's knobbly tyres!!
I had the same experience last night. Really need to be careful on skinny road bike tyres in the wet. And obviously wear a helmet at all times.
Left the office (not wet,but a little greasy), first corner is a downhill right hander, I went in too fast for the condition bike slipped from under me..............
........Now missing two front teeth, lots of cuts and bruises, cut on lip that will scar, wrecked helmet, one shifter smashed up, bent saddle, my leggins, cycling coat and two layers cut off on hospital......not the plan I had for Friday night.

I very nearly came a cropper on Thursday too - thought it was due to well worn rear tyre and turning off a road across a lowered kerb into a car park. Bit of a scare as also had junior in his seat behind me, but we got away with it. Kind of confirmed my decision that the roads are still a bit salty, dirty, slippery etc to bring my Boxster out to play just yet...

two bloody teeth! Was around Windsor, Marlow, Henley etc today and all fine on the roads but it was sunny.
I did a loop from Binfield via Twyford-Maidenhead-Dorney-Eton-Windsor-Winkfield and have to say the roads were ok, but the bloody wind seemed to be face on no matter what my heading was!!!
I did get hit in Eton high street by some stoopid old biddy in a Merc who decided to pull into a space without looking in the mirrors, managed to stay upright took a whack on my knee thanks to her rear light.
