You're the 3rd person today I have heard pickup some gravel rash - chap from the LBS came off on the way to work and a bloke I work with slipped off on a corner coming into work today. I will be sticking to the turbo trainer for the next few days!

Seriously though to the OP bad luck pal, Ice and bikes don’t mix ive found a few times myself.
I had to walk the last couple of miles of steep descent into Settle last weekend, sheet ice all over the road. Luckily I spotted it before the wheels disappeared from under me.
The good news is that overshoes are actually quite grippy on ice and as there were no cars apart from a couple of 4WD ambulances
I could walk wherever I liked.

I could walk wherever I liked.I also came a cropper this morning, thankfully only the bib tights got damaged and parts of Feltham got treated to the right cheek of my backside, the one thing that annoyed me was that I could have avoided it if I had read the road better and taken off my misted up glasses.
You live and learn, thankfull that it was only a bruised back side and I was not run over !

I have to say Rapha customer service has exceeded my expectations, more than once.

Always seems that you crack the side of the hip and the elbow when toppling over in this fashion. It usually happens too quickly to get out of the cleats, leaving you with just enough time to select an expletive, then down you go!
Just need to make sure that you shield any shiny carbon bits on your way down as they dont heal so well, or more importantly as freely, as bruises do.

Slightly OT.
Went into LBS this morning and saw the saddest pair of bikies ever. One was thawing out after ten miles, trying to get some feeling back into his hands. The other arrived just after I went in, pushing his bike through to the back, saying, "F***, f***, f***" with every painful step. They reckon it was well below zero when they started out.
I'm just glad I'm too old for that sort of thing, or too sensible.
