Specialized Sirrus Comp from the insurers. Stick or twist?

So, after a massively long process, I'm finally getting my stolen old Genesis Day02 ('08 model, I think) replaced by a 2012 Specialized Sirrus Comp like this:

I quite like the look if it, but my wife has a Specialized Vita (albeit the lower specced "sport"), which is essentially the ladies version of the Sirrus. It seems to be a bit ropey on the QC front - it's had a recall due to dodgy front forks and lots of the exposed metal ancillaries are looking a bit corroded, despite it being only about a year old, and unused for about nine months of that during and since the baby manufacturing process. It also seems a lot heavier than my old bike. So, my question is:

Should I hang on to the Specialized, or flog it for about £700 and buy something else? It would be used for a 15 mile round trip commute, though not every day, and some very occasional weekend riding. The road-biased hybrid nature of the Genesis suited me well, but I wouldn't rule out something even more roady. Say a Kona Zing or a Trek 1.X. The Felt and Trek equivalents of the Sirrus look interesting too. Suggestions?

keep it as i doubt you will get £700 for it and its a good bike for the intended purpose. it looks klike it wil lbe quite fast and comfy. QC issues like you describe are rare from experience so it sounds like your wfie was unlucky.

Will do. Not found too much bad said against it yet though, still open to alternative suggestions nevertheless.
