I'm planning on doing the london to paris bike ride this summer for charity. Im pretty fit anyway but will be doing a few long distance rides and the london to brighton ride to train for it.

I want to get the ferry over to calais and then ride from there. However for some reason google maps keeps sending me from calais to dover and then to boulogne by ferry before carrying on from there. All the other sites i've visited also go to boulogne. Has anyone on here ridden from Calais on route to Paris? What route did you take?

Think i've decided on my route, just need to actually get the directions now.

Its a bit of a longer route but would be more scenic I think. Will leave Calais, go along the coastal route to boulogne-sur-mer, then to abbeville, amiens (to see the somme), beauvais and then paris.

Managed to persuade a couple of non biking mates to drive one of their cars and to meet me at checkpoints and carry all my food, drink etc.

I'm seriosuly considering doing London to Paris on my own about April time. I'd go to Newhaven one Friday morning. Getting the Ferry over to Dieppe and then going in to France for about 20 miles in the afternoon. That'll leave 80 miles to get to Paris on Saturday. The plan is to have my girlfriend meet me at the port/hotels in the car so I've got a get out of jail card should something happen.

I'm doing the Action Medical Research ride in July.
There are four routes to choose from. The one I've gone for is London (O2 Arena) > Dover > Calais > Arras > Compiegne > Paris

edit - If you're looking to do your own ride, you could do a lot worse than this route:
