Coolest looking MTB between £500 -1000

I am sure similar questions have been asked loads but I am looking for something I can user on roads but mosly cycle paths to get to work and back. I am not as bothered about something that has the best parts, best reputation but more interested in something a bit unusual, rare, good-looking.
I am sure some people will be digusted about my question but for me its all about the fun and not taking it too seriously, this is mostly a commuter bike I can ride from my village to work and back. I am not too bothered about 29’’ or otherwise but would just appreciate any recommendations.

if you want to look cool, dont go out and look at generic off the peg stuff from trek, specialised et al. some people wil lthink one looks "cooler" than the other but in reality, they are just too common to be good looking or cool. they are all built to meet a price point. there are some brands like ghost and canyon who are slightly under the radar but i dont think they do much at that price range.
get a custom build like an on-one inbred and have some fun spec'ing it with some colour coordinated bits like tyres, grips and chain. you are probably looking closer to a grand but it will actually be a good mountain bike as well as having a bit of kudos.
alternatively, buy a cheap fixie and some designer skinny jeans and go join the hipsters at your local coffee shop...

Thanks, I am not one of those poser fixie types, not my scene at all, I just want something a but different from the norm that doesn¡¦t look like a car crash lookswise ƒº.
I have always wanted to be different just for the sake of it, hence my collection of 3 Beach Cruiser bikes but now I want something I can practically cycle to work and back, because a heavy single speed cruise bike is less than useful for a daily ride

You dont want a MTB for that journey - you want a bike with normal brakes, normal tyres etc...
If you want to look cool then just wear shades, a biker jacket, comwboy boots and Levis.
Or get a Raleigh Chopper.
Or if you dont care if the bike is any good then get a Land Rover bike - they have Land Rover written on them and they are rubbish.
A ridgeback Storm is matt black, beige leather seat etc No idea what its like but its a coolish Urban bike.

I know there are Chopper fans out there, but I would feel like a prat on one, I think they are for young adults and kids.

no you are right, its maybe slightly overkill with an MTB, always good to have different views. a cyclo cross bike or hybrid would definitely get me to the office quicker :-)Yeah, if you're not going off road a mountain bike will be horrid and slow. Massive tyres will slow you down, the gearing will be all wrong, you'll be in the wrong position, if it's windy it will be really hard to drop down into a more aerodynamic position.

She is a competitive triathlete, so I didn't feel too bad.

Am leaning now towards a hybrid or Cyclo cross again, wish I had kept my Croix De Fer now lol

Lol, all the time I have been on this forum I have never had a positive (or neutral) comment about any of my bikes, guess I need to own a MTB or some kind of flashy road bike instead to get some kudos.

I like something a bit different and that fact it is made from flax, resin, bamboo, carbon fibre, makes it unusual and also rare in UK and Europe
