Turbo trainer outside

I've decided I want to get cycling (exercising) sooner, rather than wait for the long nights before hopping on a bike. As its pitch black when I get home, I figured I could start on my trainer to build up some muscle and enjoy longer rides in the spring/summer.

But, my house is small, so no space for the TT. I've put it outside, but a house is next to my garden.

Do you think it'd be to noisy? Its currently on concrete slabs, is there a way to quieten it down? (Popping over and asking them isn't going to happy, very long story. I want to ensure it won't annoy them though.)

Its a magnetic TT.

If you are outside you might as well go for a ride...or is that a bit of a daft suggestion?

try your local road or triathlon club, they normally rent out church halls etc for turbo sessions in the winter so you get a structured training session in the dry.

if there is nothing local that takes your fancy, some old carpet underneath or rubber matting is usually enough. they are quite loud but general trafic noise etc should drown it out if you are in the garden.

Its dark, I don't want to pay for lights and still have to avoid cars and or people walking dogs (depending what I'm doing).

I'm not to sure if its the vibration causing the noise or the resistance on my back tyre (its a MTB, with MTB tyres).

Stick a slick MTB tyre on it, I use a TT with a 700c training tyre on it and that causes a racket - god knows what noise a nobbly tyre would make!!!
