Recommend me some shoes

So after 4 weeks off the bike in December I am getting back on the bike daily as of tomorrow.

I have a Cube Analog Disk that I use exclusively for road riding.

I have DMR V8 pedals and am looking to get a set of road shoes as the plimsolls I was wearing before aren't ideal.

Will road shoes work with my pedals? If not I am totally happy to get the clip in ones if it's going to be beneficial?

Budget for shoes is £50 max and if I have to get the pedals as well an absolute max of £100.

Any ideas guys?

There are no road shoes that work with flat pedals. Unless you go for a very retro designed shoe.

You would have the choice either to get something like a pair of Vans or 5:10 shoes, designed for MTB riding. These will be heavy, but grippy.
Or change to SPD style clip-in pedals. If you are unsure of making the switch, then MTB style clip in pedals will be easier to start off with.

Yeah I've been doing a fair bit of research into it and it would appear a touring shoe with MTB SPD's are my best option!

5-10s or walking shoes are a good solution to grip issue, this time of year I'd get some cheap and cheerful walking shoes as they will probably end up full of mud and water, my shoes where soaked after my last pre-Christmas ride on Cannock Chase, so my new 5-10s will wait a month or two before I wear them for riding.

That is probably your best option. If you want a cheap pair of touring shoes, check out the dhb T1 shoes.

I went for the dhb M1 MTB shoes in the end with Shimano M520 pedals from Wiggle.

Cannot wait to try them out, it's going to make my ride on flats tonight crap!

I was going to recommend the M520's. Really good pedals, double sided too and it won't take you long to get used to clipping in and out.
