with two new frames and some brake pads. 
Bloody hell there are some bargains on there at the moment.
My O/H has made do with a men's cheap full sus for years now which is also far too big for her. So 275 quid later I now have a Kona Lisa DS without shock.
My current full sus is a series 1 Whyte 46, which I've never really got on with - back end is like riding on jelly there is so much flex in it - and being 6'5" and thus heavy doesn't help either. That purchase really was a salient lesson in try (properly) before you buy.
So I've gone for a 2010 5 Spot - £799 reduced from £2k. The plan is to swap the shock from the white onto the Lisa, and swap components over. The Turner is a bit of a marmite bike, but I love them; what I should have bought in the first place. Very stiff frame and quite twitchy - unlike the whyte which is point down the fall line and hang on.

Agreed, there are some excellent deals to be had on 2011 stock. I purchased this bad boy on Saturday, can't wait for it to arrive;

I have seen a great deal on a great fame on CRC, but before I went mental and got the credit card out, I priced up a few other things... wheels, groupset etc and over-all the bike I was building in my mind was not good value.
Such a shame - I will end up getting something boring off-the-shelf just because components can't be had cheap enough... even when the frame is 60% off!

At 6'5", did you consider the Turner Sultan?

XL - 21" in Metallic Charcoal. The critical dimensions are slightly bigger than my whyte and I've ridden a large before, which whilst too small, was not far off. Turner recommend up to 6'4" for the XL and 6'5" + for the 2XL. I'm just 6'5" so a small risk, worth taking at that price. The top tube is longer on the turner than on the whyte as is the standover height, which are the critical measurements, so fingers crossed all should be fine.
That said, I won't lose much if it's too small punting an effectively brand new frame on ebay as well.
99% of the kit on my whyte will swap across with no problem as the dimensions of tubes etc. are the same.

Nice - the '11 models look less industrial / more modern, but I had no intention of actually buying a new bike really, but at what I paid it was a spur of the moment thing.How tall are you and what do you think of it?
What was your build kit?
I'm actually quite excited TBH. My motivation of late for getting cold wet and muddy has waned somewhat, so I'm hoping a new bike will re-kindle it.

What's the large like size-wise for you then? Roomy or small?I know that area well - I used to live in Ashbourne and the peaks were my old stamping ground. My favourite Sunday morning loop before the Mrs was up in the summer was a loop from Castleton, up the broken road onto the 6187, then back out across the moors, and then either along the ridge to north of castleton and then back into castleton or to drop down the other side of Mam tor down the broken road, which is a hell of a DH - some of the rocks are about a foot across. We used to do it on our our Cannondale tandem too which was a laugh. I once passed some lads on MX bikes who'd laughed at 'harold and hilda' on their tandem on our climb up. The two lads at the back of their group weren't smiling when I passed them and their mates ripped into them for getting passed by a tandem
Anyway, thanks for the offer, but a) I live in N Yorks now, and b) I won't have it built up by then. And if I'm honest c) I'm not fit enough at the moment. Enjoy the ride though.
