Despite the dark and the pants weather I try to get out and do 'my' circuit a few days a week after work. After a frankly shocking day at work (really should have stayed in bed) was looking forward to my evening ride.

Lucky enough to have two bikes but my night-riding bike is my beloved Orange Vit-T 2. Managed to get 1 mile from the house before I realised something wasn't right with the shifting - closer inspection revealed a knackered rear derailleur jockey-wheel (no idea how I managed that one!).

Home, quick swap to my other bike (Santa Cruz Superlight). 8 miles in, after a long muddy climb, front derailleur decided to seize for no obvious reason... 2 broken bikes in as many hours, great. Long ride home using only the granny ring!!

So, please someone remind me why the hell we do this? Meantime I'm gonna have another glass of of red wine and search for good-value jockey wheels!!

Jimbo.
