L2P - IN 24 HRS - are we mad?
Discussion
So a few mates have 'bullied' me into coming from a strolling start (not quite standing but its only been since MArch 2011) into possibly doing London to Paris in 2011 in 24 hrs.
LAte start from town and off we go with few hours on a ferry followed by a day from HELL!!!
Am I mad? Is it doable? I have 18m to prep and get a brain and pull out
I think it is doable.....
Well?
On a scale of 1-1000, with 1 being no chance; what do the regular and starter cyclists/hobby cyclists think?
Thanks - If it does look like happening, will do a blog type thing out of interest and posterity
BTW - 17st (6'4") again and struggled on a 30 mile ride last weekend.

I saw this event in the metro recently, have given it some consideration, I've only been road riding since feb this year.
I think it would be doable as a team, not sure I'd manage as a solo entrant.
The consensus is to get 6-8 together so that there is always a small or big enough training group for the hard rides.I think it would be doable as a team, not sure I'd manage as a solo entrant.
There is a group option with relay riding whick we have decided is not an option (for some bizarre reason)
So, we will be a mini group within a peloton so to speak - Not quite HTC obviously!!!!
Couple of the guys did Amsterdam 300 this Sept so really concerned whether I will keep up. But 18m worth of drive and training should be enough; and will include fund raising etc to really drive us forward!
You will need a training plan and stick to it. Do some research on the 24 hour TT competitions and find out how they train and their tactics. It's slightly different in that they do laps of a course but they normally cover 400 miles+ so your training should be about 50% of what they do. Go make friends on www.timetriallingforum.co.uk and ask for their help. Your biggest issue will be the night leg but there are a few night sportives around for you to get experience. You will also need to take nutrition seriously too but again there is loads on the web about that. 18 months is easily long enough but its all about the training...

Thanks for this. I have sort of resigned myself to the training.... It is going to be very tough! Indeed.HAve a link to a cycle specific coach and fitness guru so will see if we can engage them for a personalised plan - we are differing levels with me the runt so that will be tricky.
As you say, training, training, training and did I mention, training?

Off out as soon as the GP ends for a little 40 mile run (in the drizzle)
