Roller sweepstake ideas...charity fundraiser
Discussion
Want to do a 'turn' at work to try and raise some dosh for Children in Need on 18 Nov.
Basic idea is to go and muller myself on a fixie on my rollers as very few in our place will have any idea about that, and am looking for ideas to generate dosh through a sweepstake or something. Was thinking along the lines of 'I'm going to do 10 miles as quick as I can, closest guess on the time I take wins...' etc. That's a bit crude and dull however so any bright ideas to liven it up a bit or prompt some banter are welcome...?

i think the idea is pretty good and will be quite amusing if you can get a good location outside the front door or something. alternatively can you rig up the rollers to a scoreboard like a needle or something like they use for roller racing, that way people can see how far into the red you are going etc and when you are slacking! maybe race an indoor rower if you can get one?
Ok, this is coming together.... am going to do a timed 5 miles with a 'target' of, first, staying aboard and, secondly, beating 20 mins
Asking colleagues to sponsor for each complete minute under the 20 and to put their predictions for finish time, crash time, or whetever they want really, into a sweep for a wee prize or two.
Just to make it a bit more interesting for the uninitiated, going to do it on this and work in a couple of gearchanges for the big 'thunks' that the disc amplifies. Twitchy as a very twitchy thing on the rollers it is so hope I can avoid making a tit of myself!
