Thats a 3rd district. Seems to me a 'chain'' drive not a belt drive.

Aren't all bikes chain drive?

No... certain Trek Districts are driven by a belt! Always wanted to try one. See:

Hi Guys....an update...
I bought the £399.99 Trek district bike as soon as i saw it for that price, thanks to Gizmo telling me about it, great deal i thought !!
But then after closely looking at the picture realised it was the chain version, anyway, this morning when Evans the supplier opened at 10am i called them to say that i`d bought the bike online without realising it was a chain drive, so, after asking if they had the belt drive in stock, they replied yes, i asked them if i could swap, and hey presto, no problem they said, allthough it was another 50 quid, which i did`nt mind to be honest, seeing as a pal of mine had recently paid £750 for his !
So i went over to Croydon today, and picked up my shiny new toy, well pleased with it !
Now comes a technical question for all you bike boffins....the handlebars on the bike feel a bit low for me, does anyone know the correct way, if possible that is, to raise them up, there`s 4 spacers around the stem, but i cant see how to raise the bars. any ideas appreciated,
Cheers folks,
Exkay

On all the bikes I've ever had: loosen the 6mm hex nut on top of the stem and pull the bars upwards (carefully, unless you need new teeth already).

If it feels quite loose and the bars won't move put the hex tool in the nut and lightly tap it with a hammer, then try again. Shouldn't need that on a new bike though.

Failing that, drop in to Evans and they'll help you.

Assuming this District has flat bars and not drops then what you're trying to do is actually lift the bars up, not just rotate them around...

The problem you have is that the steerer tube has already been cut so it's not an option to space it up even more... the only thing you could realistically do is get a new stem with a bit more of an angle to it.... it's not massively expensive to get a new stem and will only take 15 minutes to swap! If you were more local I'd be happy to help but Evans shouldn't charge massive amounts to do this... (not including the cost of the stem of course)

Have you only ever had threaded headsets?

DON'T do this on an aheadset. The stem clamps directly to the steerer tube on most modern bikes. You'll need some riser bars.

Hi guys,
Really appreciate your help, i think what i`ll do is run it back to Evans, i`m sure they`ll help me.
Apart from that, i`m well pleased with it.
Whilst i was in the shop i had a look around at the selection, there`s some fab bikes around for not a lot of money these days, Binelli, cinelli, Look, all great looking machines, if i had the space i`d have one of each !
