Went out for a hilly ride from Bournemouth to (nearly) Shaftesbury and back this morning.
Just over 46 miles at an average of 17.8mph, with 1827' of climbs (mostly in the first 25 miles)

It's true what they say... it never gets easier, you just get faster

I did more or less the same on Saturday am did the route all the way into Shaftesbury and back along the same route rather than a loop, zig zag is a bit sharp on the way back up the otherside but i've got a triple and just span up it at 8mph in the granny ring. Good average btw , I managed 16.1mph was my first 50 miler.

Where's the big hill?
The big hill is just south of Shaftesbury, it has two routes one longer/easier which amnesia went down (I went up) and one shorter/harder some great views from the top, check out the pics on my 40 miler a couple of weeks back.Where's the big hill?

The other side of the hill into Shaftesbury is called zig zag and is like a mini alpine climb (10%) and a few switchback hairpins.

It does get quite steep, quite quickly, but it's over in 5 minutes.
