Just finished the c2w scheme on my mountain bike, road bike next!

After the recent Allez thread I was tempted, but don't really need or want something too racy, especially as the roads are atrocious around here... Just want a bike I can use for an hour or so going up and down the hilly roads on Tarmac...

So I've narrowed it down to Cannondale synapse 105 or Specialized secteur elite.

I've an old cannondale rigid mtb that I love and a 2010 specialised fsr comp which I've not been so smitten with...
The synapse is winning at the moment before I ride them both tomorrow, I thought I would ask the experts!

Ride an Allez/CAAD before you make up your mind about raciness. Its only the position that changes, not the gears or hill climbing ability, and you might prefer them..it's a worthwhile comparison at the very least!

I've got the secteur and I funking love it. I've just done the Hadrian wall route for charity with some pretty nasty climbs and even though I'm a fat b'stard I got there. The Sram Apex is a dream to use and as smooth as silk.

Bike got quite a bit of attention from the lycra clad boys. A couple of them said the secteur is becoming quite popular in the events they do. But I'd have to take there word for that. I bought it simply because I felt the range of gears was better for my needs than a 105'd bikes I was considering (read that as I need all the help I can up hills)

Try one you might love it..

Personally I'd go for the Cannondale - bit more interesting than another bloody specialized (if only a bit!) and I prefer the 'Dale's ride, but you need to test them back to back really.

It was a close run battle, but the dale won.... Ordered yesterday, I hate having to wait for C2W vouchers!

Thanks for all the advice!
