Slime Inner tubes slimed my puncture repair.... Common??

Just found the bike with a complete flat so took out the inner tube and checked the outer tyre to find no "new puncture".
However having previously repaired a puncture from a chunk of glass I noted that the slime had worked is way under the puncture repair patch to in effect "slime it off"... hence it was no longer airtight.
I do run my tyres at the top end of their recommended PSI but is this a common problem?
Also not sure if it's the sunshine making all the glass glitter more and so more noticable or whether there are just more people out drinking but there seems to be A LOT of glass on roads at the moment !!!

Have to disagree with this as when the glass was in the tyre it took me days to realise as the tyre only deflated vvv slowly, it passed the "squeeze test" it was only when I thought the bike wasn't as twitchy as previously that i checked and found a huge chunk of glass with the tip poking into the inner tube.... so they definitely saved me a roadside type change and the repair was a couple of weeks ago so it's not like it happened straight away either...I'd be suprised if there is a 60psi max on them as they are 700c inner tubes.

Have to agree slime is garbage, carry a spare tube or do 'slime' properly with a tubeless setup or ghetto tubeless 'stan's no tubes'.
With regard to tire pressure this guide has it spot on.

They aren't light thats true but as I carry a few Kgs of rotational mass around my waist I figure the horizontal and vertical rotations should even themselves out and hopefully propel me forwards at an increased puncture free velocity !!

The best thing to prevent punctures short of going tubeless (1 puncture in 2 years) is keeping your tyres properly inflated to stop pinch flats ane you can buy a kevlar strip that goes between the innertube and tyre. Because it is kevlar it is VERY light and makes very little difference to rotational mass and it is superb at defending against punctures.
Dont dismiss the incredible difference that losing mass from the wheels makes, even 100g lost from the wheel is very noticable!
Already have kevlar lined tyres, regularly checked pressure (never had a pinch/snake bite puncture) and running with the slime... this is the only puncture i've had in over a year.
I don't really mind about the extra weight as I'm using it as a commute set up only racing myself and a little extra weight just makes me all the fitter and still plenty fast enough to give fellow cyclist a run for their money..
As has been shown before the weight of your bike does not necessarily equate to a quicker commute:

Lighter wheels is not so much about speed but agility. They accelerate, stop and change direction better. And latterly on the hybrid, I've had a set a slime tubes in for years, along with armoured tyres, and not had one puncture or failure. They've been utterly perfect, despite having to cope with 100kg of me+ rucksack.
Prior to the armoured/slime combo, I was having to change tubes way too often - the streets of central london were diabolical, and changing tubes on a cramped train on the way home was not something I ever want to experience again.
Another Slime user here - used to get lots of punctures whilst out and about. Got fed up with repairing at the roadside / walking home and got some Slimed tubes - has reduced my puncture rate considerably, with no noticable effect on the ride quality (hybrid on tracks)
Maybe when the tyres wear out again, I'll try the better tyre / Kevlar lining option though

From what I understand, the slime is forced into a hole by the air pressure forcing it's way out, which to me suggests your puncture repair patch wasn't fully sealed. I blame the workman not the tools

Sadly, my last encounters with slime tubes involved hawthorn punctures where the slime temporarily sealed the punctures (after I had removed the thorns). The 'repairs' then failed repeatedly over the next few days, then resealed, then failed again. One tyre got bonded quite well to the wheel rim, mind.Put slime in the tyres of my folding bike, and it saved me a few times.

Most of my outings are in the Peak District on an MTB, the least bumpiness of the trail caused the slime tubes to fail. And the worst thing was the way that the slime stopped a normal patch from sticking to the inner tube.
