How was it? We had an hour's monsoon between Coventry, Solihull and Redditch. I did think about the commuter cyclists amongst us but almost wished I was one of them after a sweaty day in an over-heated office.

Had stopped by the time I left. Still got wet to my (ahem) underwear though from all the spray from bike wheels and passing cars. Fun though.

No mudguards then?

I don't commute so I take them off in the "fairer weather" months and don't bother going out if it's wet but I think if I commuted I'd leave them on. My bike looks a bit girly with them on but I'm confident in my masculinity.

Well I got totally drenched for the first 6 miles of my ride home, then the sun came out for the last 9, so by the time I made it home, I'd pretty much dried out except for my feet.

I don't bother with mudguards - not sure I could actually fit them to my frame anyway - but even if I did, I'm not sure they would've helped much with the 3 inches of standing water gracing parts of the A24!

Still, I'd rather get soaked, get home and jump in the shower than get soaked, get to the station, then spend a journey packed in tight with lots of other soaked people!

It did take me an extra 10 minutes to get home though, as a combination of next to no brakes and nice but slippery blue paint in the cycle lane left me coasting downhill rather than pedalling.
