UST tyre fitting

I have a stan's ZTR Flow wheel which I am trying to fit a maxxis high roller ust tyre on,
I seem to have got the tyre mounted and is holding air with no leaks, but following all the guides they advise the tyres should make a pop/bang when they mount correctly.

does anyone know if these will be fitted correctly, just without the noise?


any way to check?

The only check i can think of is whether the tyre looses pressure or not? I used a compressor to get my tyres on, and there was certainly a pop when I did it :-)

the tyres went straight up with a hand pump, so im not sure if the slower inflation made the bead slide over slowly, hence no pops etc.

not sure if its worth unmounting them, then taking it to the garage and using a compressor to make it pop.

Best way to insure a good bead is to over inflate for a minute (dont ride on it) or so then reduce pressure to your ideal. Usually the over inflate pops the tyre on to the bead. Yes - it usually makes a hell of a bang!

how much psi are we talking?

stans says no more than 40 psi in this rim for some reason, that seems a bit low.

My nobby nics have a max pressure of 55psi, I fill to 70 then after about a minute, deflate to 35 - 40 psi. Sometimes they dont POP, just sometimes. If you find they have not popped onto the bead then I wouldnt worry if they are holding pressure then it should be fine. Have a gentle ride up and down the road and test the pressure, if it is holding then you have got it. when you have done it a couple of times it isnt difficult!

A light coating of soapy water on the tyre bead before inflating helps them pop into place
