Interesting (to me) observation

After cycling home from work last night I got to thinking how much energy I had used compared to the car over the same distance.
The internet reckons that 12 miles off road at approx 12mph (and me at 183lbs ish) has me using 500 calories, driving in at approx 30mpg would see me using approx 1.8 litres, at 7553 cal / litre equates to about 13,500 calories.
I think I've just sorted the worlds energy crisis!
