My 2 Marin Mount Visions pinched - what to get now?

Had my wifes and my Mount Visions nicked last night from our garage. Oh, and my mag Cateye lamps as well.
They are/were about 5 years old and were the last of the alloy monocoque versions, rather than the clunky looking ones that are current.
They were great to ride, comfy, nimble and light.
So what to replace them with?
It looks as though I will get £1500 each from the insurance, no doubt in the form of a Halfords voucher etc. Trouble is, we looked at Marins yesterday and they now weigh a ton.
To be honest, I'd rather get a couple of like for like replacements off ebay, but cant see the insurance going for that. Mainly we ride canal paths, roads and the occasional foray into the woods. 25 miles is a reasonable length ride for us. We are both mid 50's but love our bikes, but dont want some mental downhill monster bike, just a good quality cross country steed.
So anybody got a suggestion.

Cos I also do some more serious stuff in the peak district/lakes/north yorkshire as well with a couple of mates who also have MV's. And, for instance wifey flew round the red route in the sherwood forest trail.
The bike you suggest seems to somewhat lacking in the suspension department.

as others have said, the lapierre x-control 210 or 310 are well worth a look.
specialised fsr always worth considering too, nice and comfy xc bikes.
trek fuel might be a bit aggressive for most of the stuff you mention but the gary fishers have slightly relaxed geometry. also the cannondale prophets are good all round xc bikes.

Had a good look at Canyons as per above, but availability isnskimpy as there is a long waiting list.
In the end got 2 mount visions exactly the same as the one that were nicked off ebay. They were from over 100 miles away and represented good value for money and are in terrific condition.
Yesterday (Sunday) the plod assigned to the incident called to see us at home. Didn't bother phoning first as I suggested he ought, but just turned up and rang the front doorbell. I didn't hear him and my wife saw him get back in his car as she rode past trying out her new, identical to the nicked version, bike. She carried on up the road and came back. Plod had left.She was out of the house for no more than 3 or 4 mins.
Amazingly plod never noticed her, or the bike, which he had had piccies of.
Even more impressive was when he telephoned me some 20 mins later to tell me he had called, and finding me out, had carried out house to house enquiries and that none of my neighbours had seen anything.
In 3 minutes......?
Shakes head, and is completely unsurprised and unimpressed in equal (large) masures.
