Good pics ^^ ! smile

Looking forward to 10 days in Mallorca in October. I don't think there'll be many photos of me smiling whilst pedalling - more likely with my tongue hanging out panting for breath, like last year! laugh

I'm sure there's plenty of club riders on here, so a bit of advice if I may.

I've never ridden in groups other than doing a London-Paris 15 years ago. I've spent the last 6 months ramping up the cycling from not much at all to 5-6 hours a week and I'm about to join a club. For reference, I've just done the club training route on my own (37 miles with 650m of climbing at just over 17mph). I don't want to rock up at the club and look like a plonker getting dropped after 5 minutes, but I also don't want to be sat in a slow group as I really don't like riding slow.

What would that average speed increase by if I'm in a decent sized group?

Thanks.

I came across a particularly photogenic patch of daisies, on one of the few rides where I didn't actually have a proper camera with me.

You'll be fine. I used to cruise around 17ish average on my own then do the fast club run and average anything from 17-21mph.

You'll also find that you won't get dropped and left to it. I'm sure you'll keep up but if you're struggling people will ease off etc. riding in a group is so much easier and quicker.

Check out your local clubs and see what they advertise as a social ride and pace. Our Sunday runs are no drop so you wouldn't be left to it. The middle paced group is around 16-17mph over around 50 miles and is the sort of thing that I'd expect you'd fit in if you were around here.

Quick blast this evening. First decent test of my ankle after an injury a couple of weeks ago, all seems fine.

Doggo is ready for some longer rides now too, following the bike so well, really pleased with him.

Mine was a history and wildlife sort of ride today.
I'm glad that shower in the last photo was elsewhere, instead of directly over my head, just for a change...

Love how you've matched your trail dog to your saddle... You've elevated the traditional anodized matching to levels previously unimagined.

May have ordered him a brown Ruffwear collar whistle

.....his name tag is also Ti to match the frame. The internet is an amazing place for frivolous purchases

I need a trail dog so much. My current dog is bloody useless. Can't be trusted to stay focused and not chase a squirrel.

On a normal walk he is zig-zagging everywhere, only stopping to be fixated (pointing) at the usual game bird or squirrel.

With the bike it's different, no time be distracted with stuff, he just follows. To be honest I'm really surprised how well he's picked it up, he's my first dog so wasn't sure what to expect. Put the hours put in, and is paying off so far.

Nearly swallowed the whistle when pedaling and blowing for recall a few times mind!
