Picked up a secondhand road bike, a Giant Contend SL2 Disc. All it needed was a new chain and pedals. Not bad for £350.

I forgot how fast a proper road bike is in comparison to my gravel bike. Easily averaging 4 km/h more on a typical ride.

The weird half hydraulic, half cable operated brakes seem to work well too.

Bike is finally built, really pleased with it! Lots of scope creep!

Picked this up from a chap giving it away on fb, an old Roold, frame has quite alot of surface rust so planning on stripping it and clear coating and putting some gravel bike type wheels on!
I regularly walk past an old beat up Peugeot bike in the city that looks similar to this. Have a real want for it!

This will be with me soon. Hopefully next week. Shop just sent me this as a tease..

Enigma Evoke Mk3. 56cm. It'll run Ultegra 12-speed Di2, Deda Superzero RS bar and stem, Superzero post. Deda SL4 wheels.

I've wanted Ti since I raced mountain bikes in the 90's and listed after Merlins. The time is right as I approach my mid-50's and I'm utterly bored with anything carbon coming out. I have carbon (C64) and steel (custom XCR) so this completes the set for me.

Are the tyres Veloflex or Turbo Cottons?

Oof. Sister frame to my Etape, which is hands down the best bike I've ever owned...

Enjoy!

Turbo Cotton 28’s. The Hell of the North versions. I run them all year round and find them absolutely brilliant for the North Hants roads.

Lovely!

Similar to myself, first Ti bike after Alu and Steel frames.

Hope it arrives soon for you

Just built this to try a bit of gravel, a Trek Checkpoint SL5, 2020. Bought the complete bike locally for a good amount barely used (but truly slathered in thick lube). Gave it a total strip down, mega clean and rebuild. Added a longer carbon seat mast and carbon railed saddle along with a longer stem and carbon bars to take a bit of buzz out and get the position to a "slightly more upright version of my road position".

Got some second hand garmin rally pedals for power measurement and finally were the wheels. They're syncros and are the same as a set I have on my Scott Foil summer bike which have been bombproof and while being road can take tyres up to 40mm, tubeless too although I've just put tubes in for now. Bagged them cheaply as the rear required new bearings and a few of the nipples had corroded. Swapped them all for some black brass ones, bit more weight but will be solid. Whacked some new tyres on (37mm as I'll likely be 50/50 road / off road when using it). Done.

OOf, that's really lovely. I'm 50 in a couple of years and thinking of doing a bit of a Ti super build as a birthday present to myself.

I urge you to do it - it's a beautifully smooth ride and very good value compared to a lot of the carbon stuff now.

Will probably be lambasted for "cheating" etc but for me (somewhat overweight and unfit) it's a game changer. Just can't wait to get out on it again, hopefully tomorrow.

My flat bar gravel bike I bought in lock down is at least now getting some use as a commuter.

As a long time no post type of guy and wasn't sure where to post this. There are so many lovely machines on here and like most enjoy seeing all the different models and specs posted. This bike almost covers show us your ride and retro bikes.....anyway I generally peddle a Whyte Shoreditch multiple times a week and it's a great workhorse. Having picked my 10 year old up a 5 year old Kona Firemountain mountain bike for us to ride together thought I'd get something similarish to ride having ventured out on some muddy trails on my thin tyred hybrid and generally wishing I didn't.

I did have a Cube Aim until I was 'relieved' of ownership 12 months ago. I mentioned to a friend I was looking for something second hand for about 3 or 400 quid he reminded me he had built a really nice hardtail bike over 10 years ago which had been parked up for 5 years as he is now a Ultra marathon runner so riding doesn't fit in his ridiculous running schedule.

So this Ragley framed special is now in my hands and a good clean, service and new chain later I can report its very nice indeed. The 26 inch wheels and frame design dates it a bit but there are some really high quality components on it and it rides very well indeed. Sort of in between retro and the latest stuff but a teenage lad complimented me on it when out for a ride today so it might still cut the mustard..
