Well, I read in here (granted not too often) but sadly I can't recommend anything in Cape Town.

Good luck with the hunt.

I signed up with that forum and I can say that they are a bunch of s. And if they happen to read this - I posted a link - I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

Now I remember, once again, why I'm so fking grateful to be out of that st hole that is South Africa.

Hi all,

Pints, the negative elements you encountered in www.carforums.co.za come from a select minority of the members of the board. I have had similar issues with them as well, as you seem to know. However, maybe you need to stay on a while longer and get to know the community dynamics and the nature of things there. It is not a bad place overall. Trust me on this.

Since I am banned from there, it seems I would not be able to continue getting the advice I sought regarding the wasted cats on my Toyota MR2 (model ZZW30). Maybe this forum (albeit UK, but that is not a problem) will serve to answer the questions regarding the issues I have with the damn car.

See you around.

I enjoyed the past couple of days there (and it meant Mrs Pints wasn't giving me st for being on PH for a change).

As GSI so eloquently put it, it really is a schoolyard mentality there. I can't have an opinion because I'm a newbie?! What kind of bullst is that?
My very first post on PH was opinionated and, rather than shoot me down in flames, they enquired as to the nature of my work (I seem to recall the assumption was that I was a journo).

I'd like to spend more time on CARforums. I'll see how it goes. Right now, I can't be arsed.

Thanks for the "chin up" though. I'm sure I'll see you around there shortly.

A post regarding CarForums (www.carforums.co.za) and the title of this thread.
You can try the following thread on that forum, maybe register (i.e. become a member) and post your details in there:
http://www.carforums.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=5&t...

More specifically, there was also a thread about motoring technician employment a while ago (actually also from a guy from the UK), here is the link:
http://www.carforums.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=5&t...

HTH.

Not sure how you get to your last comment, Pints.
All in all I do hope that you enjoy it there, and that you manage to get together with some of them in SA when you are there again. There are also some other UK resident members there. It should not be too hard for you to find out who they are.

I saw that he initially wasn't welcome there, but then it was sorted out it seems and decent conversations followed. If there was any sort of relapse, please post me the link? smile

Ah yes. CarForums - where opinions are a nono unless you're a long established member of "The Clique". rolleyes (Or should that be "Teh Clique"?)

I'll summarise for you.
It had something to do with 93 assuming I'm a backdoor bandit because I use articulate and constructed sentences in a discussion regarding speed - it kills apparently. I was accused of trying to be "a royal cocklicker" (whatever the fk that is).

It ended with this:

Current93: "You are fortunate, then, that Jeff D'arsie is travelling upon his fagboat. His posts are more aloof than yours by several counties, but he also wraps it with a lot more wit.

Stick around, and get with the program, is my advice. At the moment, you're trying to become a royal cocklicker. Which we don't approve of."

Pints: "No offence but I'm not trying to be anything. This is who I am. If you don't approve, I'll fk off. I've said it before and the offer still stands. I'm not changing who I am to please you or anybody else hacking away at their keyboard on the other side of the ethernet.

If you want wit, read Oscar Wilde."

Current93: "Grand. I don't dig you. fk off and never return."

Pints: "Cheerio, ."

And I've not been back. Does that mean I've been banned?

I'm too old not small minded enough to be playing schoolyard games with cavalier keyboard warriors.

ETA: fk. I can't believe I've been dragged into this on Pistonheads. What the fk was I thinking? banghead

And thanks for the PM, ZZW30/Charl. It all makes much more sense now.
