Car hire for a month in Cape Town
Discussion
I always prefer the bigger companies as least you know they can sort it out if things go wrong (and you dont want to be stuck on the side of the highway too long). But i have found better prices going through ebookers, dunno why. Just booked a corolla for £118, going straight to europcar its £143.
Just be aware that most rental companies out there completely exclude tyres and windscreens from the insurance. Our broken windscreen cost £330 to replace and it's quite common in SA given the dirt roads.
We went with one of the major companies and when we returned the car they went over it to look for anything they could charge us for. We had filled the tank about 15 miles down the road, but they managed to top it up a bit so hit us for a refueling fee... They didn't get us on the 'you've got a slow puncture' scam as we also had the tyres pumped up before returning the car. Be careful!
