Never been to Goodwood before and am wandering what day to go on? Obviously Sunday will probably be the best but would I miss much if I went on the Fri/Sat?

I see this yr that Hamilton is driving Senna's old car - is it likely that you will only see this on the Sunday?

Cheers

Personally I prefer the Friday as there is more informality about it all.... Though, if cars are your thing, attending any day will leave you eager to come back again next year!

Same here, get there early and go home late make a full day. Food is OK if a little expensive, I prefere to take a nice picnic.

Thanks guys

I was swaying towards Friday, would you recommend the grandstand ticket over the normal one?

Always Friday, never grandstand!

Take a good pair of walking shoes, a lightweight folding chair and spend the day meandering from top to bottom of the hill watching the action.

Then, when all the crowds are heading home, get over to the paddock for unobstructed views of the cars being fettled.

Have a quick beer as the food outlets are closing down and leave the now empty car park and head out on to the deserted roads...

Meanwhile, think of all your mates who've been sweating at work all day!

Job done.

But to answer the OPs' original question, Sunday is the day mr Hamilton and friends will be joining the fray, and Friday is a good option only if you have the free tickets given away by a local rag and a national newspaper for the Friday IMO

Exactly that, £7:50 for a burger with cheese and bacon was a little excessive.

A tad harsh on the Friday brigade - for mostly un-interrupted views of the cars in the 'pits' for great photo opportunity's and for mingling with the crews of the cars on display, Friday is the day to go. You also get to have first dibs at the stalls. Saturday is good for the hill racing, but there are more crowds; Sunday is the best day for the experience due to the influx of big names and the spirited driving up the hill but draws the biggest crowds.

It depends on what you want to get out of the weekend.

What I was getting at is, who wants to pay for the Friday knowing that the guy stood next to you may have not had to pay. I know the freebies are limited in numbers but it would grate a bit I think.

i go all 3 days, really enjoy fri as not quite as busy, merchandise stores are not as busy as weekend.as stated before get there for gates open and stay til the last dog is hung.go to the pit areas early as well not all cars are out but most are and not busy.
sat and sun get there early and find a seat for the first complete runs then go for a wander.
agree about food take your own and stay for the prize giving if you can on sunday eve enjoy the free champagne and fos cake and get to rub shoulders with the drivers.
sorry not to mention car parks but i am lucky enough to be able to cycle every day.enjoy.

if anybody wants a free friday ticket there might be the usual offer in the local paper in chichester about the end of may that if you buy a sat or sun ticket you get fri tkt free, will post details if offer is on. sent a few coupons to phs last year and am willing to again.

On a slightly different tack, what day would you recommend when visiting with a 7 month old? Probably not ideal to arrive too early and stay late so what day is best to get a good experience in 4-5 hours?

Cheers.

In your situation I'd go on the Friday. It's a bit less frantic and you'll probably get more in in the 4 - 5 hours you'll be there.
