I have hired a period RAF uniform for the Revival weekend and the costumer said I should wear a blue shirt and a black tie . Is that correct ? I was planning to wear an old blue striped tie (looks ok to me ) but if black is correct then so be it . Any advice.
I notice the photograph on the Goodwwod website of a RAF officer shows a black tie - still not convinced.

Plain black or blue sounds OK to me but it's not too important - they won't stop you going in for having the wrong tie! smile

The RAF uniform is definitely a light blue shirt and a plain black tie (tied with a double windsor knot). I know from many years of wearing the delightful attire. yes

Mr Pitstop and I will be attending. He will be in full RAF dress (with black tie, as bought from ebay!) and I will be in my great aunts original WW2 nurse uniform - give us a wave if you see us!!

And the type of material is technically known as "end on end" this is what gives it the blue and white woven appearance. wink

Trust me, it's an original so no naughty nurse antics, skirt length on the knee and buttoned up to the neck!! Much more Florence Nightingale than Barbara Windsor wink

OK, so here's the photo evidence of myself and the OH. It's not the most flattering of outfits!

As for the Penelope Pitstop interloper, my login suggests I have previous form. I personally thought she had some elements of the outfit wrong, but not a bad effort, and she has the better figure for it!! wink Here's my outfit, as seen across the continent!
