GOODWOOD ROAD RACING CLUB OPEN DAY SUNDAY 10 AUGUST
Hi All,
Just thought i'd let you know that we're having an open day at Goodwood House on Sunday. We hold this event every year and always have a fabulous range of cars and bikes on display in front of Goodwood House. As well as an F50, a very rare Maserati A6G-2000 (Zagato) and the latest Ducati Desmosedici (road version of Moto GP bike) we have an amazing selection of vehicles from all ages including a very rare Lotus Elise GT1 race car (Chassis#1).
It's free to get in and we also have loads of free attractions for kids such as a Helter Skelter, Coconut Shy, face painting etc.. We'll also have a small display of some of our fabulous 'Wacky Races' cars and a jazz band playing live music in front of Goodwood House. Food is available (hog roast etc) in the marquee along with a licenced bar (we do charge for this!). You can also take a tour of Goodwood House if that sort of thing floats your boat.
We also have a special car park for all cars of interest. It would be great to see some of you there.
The day starts at 12.00hrs and finishes at 17.00hrs.
There's no need to book, or to be a Member.. just turn up and enjoy!
Hope to see some of you there.. I'll be the one in the cream linen suit with a walkie talkie! Come and say hi..
Cheers,
J

Just back from a great day (as usual) down at Gooders... should have some pics sorted later on, great to see a few PH cars in the holy circle and nice to finally meet James
Agreed completely - a cracking day out and really enjoyable. Thanks to all @ GRRC for the hard work organising - a wonderful mix of cars, and some really nice owners stories shown on several of the exhibited cars. Honoured to have been able to have flown the TVR flag in the "holy circle" Sinclair - great to meet up and your exhaust sounds epic - it flames from the left hand pipe after each hefty overrun!
Hi Guys, I've also just got back from a great day out at Goodwood, I looked out for people but must have missed you all!
Nice relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable day out in the cars. Did you see all the XK120/40/50s on the way home!
Saw Craig's Tuscan but didn't see Craig, nice though. My fav' was the pale grey Maserati Zagato simply sublime, understated 1950's Italian style. Must work on getting the Aston selected as a display car next year
Only one thing, next time we must get Lord March to tell the Dept of Transport not to decide to re-surface every road between Bracknell and Guildford on a Sunday morning! What wrong with a bit of nighttime working? Oh hang on, that'd cost more Doh!
Still the drive back was far more enjoyable until the heavens opened on us near home!
p.s. I was in the Griff and my brother was in his pale blue over old English white Healey.
p.p.s. What the Kennels lunch about? Planning a drive out?

Took the words right out of my mouth...! And also to not re-surface the roads with that sh*te loose chipping stuff. I swear most of the roads in Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire have been re-surfaced with this over the last few weeks. Couldn't make it this year, however am fully aware of how much of a great event it is. Hopefully will make it next year!

I saw your cars and you wandering about (at a distance) - shame we didn't meet to chat. p.s. I was in the Griff and my brother was in his pale blue over old English white Healey.

We thought it might be fun to have a PH GRRC members lunch at The Kennels, and I reckon it would be rude not to have a drive out before and/or after. No firm details yet, but we'll let y'all know when something is arranged.

Yes another belting day at Goodwood. Spoke to Mustang Baz at length...clearly very passionate about his car...but the car of the show for me was the Roush GT 600RE...I didn't know the Ford GT could be made any better...?!!
Rgds, Brin
Hello Brin - many thanks and also a pleasure to talk. Forgive me for asking, but were you the nice fellow there with his father by chance? Rgds, Brin
Oh and as regards the GT, try this on for size if the 600RE is not enough..

That Roush Monster appeared large in my rear view mirror for a reasonable section of the run North, sadly the busyish roads meant it was a bit of a procession but it sure is a menacing sight bouncing around on your tail - the only half chance I did have, an edge out for a quick look was met with a sharp dig in by ribs from Mrs Cloth who knew exactly what I was thinking, taking the opportunity me that we were 4 up with young children and not to be so bl@@dy silly to even consider it

I followed that beast out back down along the entrance of the hillclimb and the sound (and road presence) was epic. Much knashing of teeth that my oil had yet to warm up properly so I could not even manage a pop or crackle in return.....Mustang Baz said:
