Parking options at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Discussion
Does anybody know if there is any level hardsurface parking available? I'm going down on the Friday in a very low car and am concerned about parking it in the normal field.
I don't even mind paying extra for the privilage as I just want to ensure that the grounds level and won't damage the underside of the car!
I did ring Goodwood but they surprisingly were not very helpful!

As above - all parking is in the fields surrounding the house, even GRRC members. And it has the potential to get very, very muddy, especially as it's tipping down here now (10 miles from Goodwood) and the forecast looks similar for the rest of the week. Any chance you can borrow a Land Rover?
I suspect it's not allowed, but there is a huge Sainsbury's and Homebase just down the road with very good parking facilities... you could walk from there in about 20mins, or perhaps even just hitch a lift up?!
I've missed out on an idea here... I live in Chichester and could have offered a park and ride service in exchange for a run out in something fast... but instead will be off down to Classic Le Mans! Seems a waste of a convienient place to live (Before you all ask, brother in law coming to house sit in exchange for a ticket!)

Park in the car parks at the bottom of the hill, they are the flattest.
They are grass and if it's anything like last year they can get slippery but the only real danger is tw@ts who can't drive and cover your car in mud like this
People were panicking and dialing in 4000rpm before dropping the clutch to ensure a swift exit. I drove my RWD S2000 out through several inches of mud no problem.
Great event though, don't let the condition put you off. If it's peeing down just head up to the rally stage for an authentic spectator experience.

Looking at the forecast for the rest of the week and the weekend, there's every chance that the car parks will end up looking like a re-enactment of the Somme. I can remember several previous FoS where people just had to wait until a 4x4 towed them through the mud to get out of the car park. If it's any consolation, the long range forecast says that the following Mon, Tue & Wed will be warm & sunny. If you're approaching from the A27, you've got a reasonable chance of ending up in a fairly flat field. If you're approaching from the North (through Singleton), you'll probably be parked on a hill.
To be fair it was horrible weather last year and the main issue was not actually getting going but avoiding the ruts. Some drivers did show their complete lack of understanding when it came to bad weather / slippy conditions and I did see a prang or two mainly by idiots in cheapo RWD who thought they were in a mk II escort on the RAC Lombard.
Fun if you're in the field with a few mates / by yourself, not fun if the car park is full of all sorts of cars including exotica.
Have to decide on the day which car to take as the real issue was actually the ruts in the exit lanes / pathways out. They were getting seriously deep in places.
