I notice more and more spectators (and drivers!) becoming aware of the fun of the cars LEAVING the circuit and having to turn left to go up to the roundabout from the main gate.

It's terrific when the drivers give it a bit of welly and really smoke it up the road - the Zonda and Alfa 8c especially sounded fantastic!

Good viewing at the roundabout too!

I totally agree! Good to see and hear the cars in action. Good to see the police keeping a low profile (albeit tucked away a few hundred metres from the entrance)

My only concern is that there is no spectator control - with cars zooming out the entrance it would probably be a good idea to keep people away from the kerb in case someone loses it - otherwise an over enthusiastic get away could ruin the future of the whole event...

I left early and the traffic car was parked right outside the entrance, so I thought it best to drive off slowlywink

We planted ourselves near the little stretch of exit road within the circuit and through the tunnel, seemed like a good place too.

Marshalls were telling everybody to take it easy on leaving as I pulled out, although my right foot may of slipped slightly..

To be fair probably not the sort of thing they would want to develop, could really jepodise the whole event I would think.

Yes - mine 'slipped' as well.

I now feel like a childish idiot - showing off is not clever, especially at my age!

But the old Red Mist descended and being egged on by so many people didn't help - still absolutely no excuse though.

I have spoken to the Goodwood Club and no complaints have yet been made!

Yeah I remember the CGT that was there last year (a dark grey/black car with an older gent driving), it sounded phenomenal through the tunnel. Just like an F1 car! cloud9
Utterly stunning car Mike! thumbup

How about using a section (just a short straight) of the track to give people, one car at a time, the chance to take their cars through 1st gear? A bit like a drag strip, but obviously no timing, no competition. It takes the police out of the equation and spectators would be safely behind barriers as opposed to perilously perched on a grass verge.

Go on, hit me with why it can't be done. Insurance and safety reasons, required attendance of men with clip-boards and yellow bibs, ambulances, fire engines, bomb squads....

I insinuated as much!wink
I was gawping at the car as you were driving out (although not one of the gawpers in front of the car! hehe) and did notice you were younger than my previous CGT spot! hehe
I didn't want to be rude though (to the older chap), incase you CGT owners are a close-knit bunch?

Mike,

Good to meet you after being blown into the weeds up Young Street...wink

Fantastic car you have there. Being just down the road, if you ever need someone to give it a run out whilst you're away on holiday or something.. you know, make sure the battery doesn't run flat.... tongue out

I must admit I was stood outside watching some of the cars leave too. Shame the traffic got too heavy.

Loved the fact that people were watching in awe as the cars turned out, but when some went past again going the other way people didn't bat an eyelid at them!
