Do General admission tickets allow you in the central pit area?

They allow you to enter into the main paddock where the saloon cars and so on are kept but to get into the center of the paddock where the real heavy duty stuff is kept you need a paddock pass.(I've got mine!)

Pit lane access is very restricted I recall.

Pit lane requires a Mechanic armband
Pit Roof requires a Mechanic or Team armband
Armbands also count as paddock passes.

A Paddock Pass (basically only for GRRC members and select guests) lets you into what I call the posh paddock, surrounded by a low fence, and where the best cars are kept. It also gives you access to the pedestrian tunnel, directly opposite the main pedestrian entrance.

General admission ticket does let you access the paddock. You have to go through the vehicle tunnel near the Chicane, and directy opposite the main entrance. It is repeatedly closed to allow cars in and out. Once inside, you can walk around the plebs paddock, and stand on the outside of the posh paddock and the assembly area. This is what you'll need to do.

I get into the middle but you can still stand around the outside of the middle bit without a pass can't you?

It's simple... the Paddock is divided into two areas; the outer paddock is open for general admission ticket holders with access via the road tunnel, the inner paddock is for members only who can also use the nearby foot tunnel. Access to the inner paddock requires gentlemen to wear a jacket & tie, although there is no excuse for not wearing something traditional even as a general entry ticket holder. Chino's and a tweed jacket does the job, Ferrari branded puffa-jacket and dayglow rucksak does not hehe
