GFoS Supercar run
Discussion
I might be going out on a limb here, but.... me they were boring.
A number of cars virtually silently swoosh up the hill, whilst gentley being pootled round... boring!
The tannoy announcer (Marcus Pye?) says there are two runs and it's a crowd favourite... er... so why was almost everyone around saying that they were boring...
Not only that, the exhaust note from ever car was a disappointment... surely if these company's want to sell their sports cars, they should make an effort for the crowd and put on a sports system at least..
My faint glimmer of hope to hear a V8 rumble came to nothing... the Marcos, Morgan and Aston wafted by... jeez, I could fart louder Still, at least the Bowler Wildcats sounded good.
Aside from that... cracking day.

Stood around waiting all afternoon for them then got bored and went home.
I remember thinking last year that the only ones that actually sounded any good were the Lambos. Completely overshadowed everything else.
Bit of a shame, because seeing a lot of the cars around London/other events, they sound excellent.

Watched them from the top enclosure as they cruised passed to park. You could appreciate the visual side of things better up there me thinks. Disappointed none of them even blipped the throttle though. Only one to do so was the Morgan 8 who attempted to drift the round the curve but failing terribly Sounded good though
Half the problem is the manufacturers give out some / most of the runs to guest drivers. Most of them have obviously never driven that car before the run, and half are probably B / C / D list celebs who's abilities are, erm, limited shall we say.
Looking over the Ford GT (Roush 600RE) on Thursday and knowing want mine's like on narrow roads, I'd say you'd have to have rather large kernackers to go any speed in the damp. And having a bent Aston around to remind you, isn't going to help matters.

Yes the Veyron guy was really giving it some in the wet, so much so he nearly rear-ended the pedestrianly-driven car ahead!
That Pikes Peak racer following the Bowler Nemesis yesterday nearly did the same...except the PP car would've disappeared straight into the rear-diff on the Nemesis...not the lowest of cars... newbee said:
Totally agree - they took things a little too easy....but more to the point why the hell was there an rx8 and 350z running??
Agreed. Though I guess the 350Z was a requirement because Nissan were a major sponsor this year. Nissan also had every advert slot on the big screen displaysEdited by tvrbob on Monday 25th June 13:24
I was lucky to have a ride up the hill on the first run on Saturday.
driven by James Gornall in the Mosler. It may have looked boring to some
but what a great experience. He was going for it bouncing of the rev
limiter in 1st and 2nd. On the way down doing burn outs and slides, the rears were smoking and people were clapping.
James is a formula Renault champion and instructor with Palmer sport.
Thanks James.
