We were just going when we saw the footage on the big screen of the DB9 doing something very silly on the way up the hill. Does anyone know if anyone was injured as bits seemed to fly into the crowd?

Hopefully all was well as the rest of the day was fantastic!! laugh

T'was a V8 Vantage. Saw the driver afterwards and he was OK - chatting with the startline marshals looking a bit sheepish. The only straight panel left on the car was the roof. Not sure about spectators. The commentators didn't mention anything at the time.

Didn't see the crash but one of the bits that flew off the car went into one of the Grandstands and hit a guy in the face. frown Not sure how bad the injury was but there was plenty of claret. Fortunately a medic got to him quick with bandages etc. Even more fortunate was that the bit of bodywork didn't hit the two babies sitting two rows in front of the guy. What was the driver doing to cause the crash as it seemed to be on one of the straight sections of track?

It was just after the cloudburst mid-afternoon. He dropped a rear wheel onto the grass halfway through the corner and around he went. Wet grass + Braking = Pointless.

That wasnt the only incident today - Paddy Hopkirk cut a corner of the Rally Stage tight and ended up with the 1964 works Mini Cooper lying on its side - and one of the supercars went into the straw bales first thing in the morning (a Jaguar I believe) - but luckily no one was injured in either

I missed it and was standing near the start line. Did people put money in the buckets?

Thats good to hear, glad it wasn't too bad. Hopefully the bloke who was injured will be on the mend in no time.

I thought the FoS was very good this year. Last year seemed a little lackluste but for some reason it seemed just 'better' this year.

Oh and I saw someone wearing a 'Stop The Cock' T shirt as well. Any of you guys?laugh

Was indeed a V8 - racing version I think (see pic below taken about 15 secs before the incident). At the time the crash occured, the announcer stated that there was only "light damage to a few panels" - he soon changed his statement a few mins later when the full multiple spin was seen and barely a panel remained undamaged! There was also a racing Jag went into some bales early on in the morning - challenging conditions indeed, and bizarrely, there was stage in the late morning when it was raining at the start of the track and bright sunshine 1/2 mile up the hill!

Great day at the FOS - an amazing array of all things vehicular and something for everyone.

The jag on its way to its rendevous with the straw - went through 3 bales deep apparently.

The Aston crash happened right in front of me and the missus. We were on the opposite side to the grandstand where the guy got injured.

There was bits of car flying everywhere a couple of kids in front of us were quite lucky as one of them got hit with part of the car but were unhurt.

I hope the guy in the stand is ok as from what I saw he got hit in the head and the paramedics had bandaged his left eye area up.

Thought I recognised that plate from somewhere..

I followed you away from Goodwood, about two cars behind when you were stuck behind a caravan/trailer thing for few miles, they turned off right and the road became a nice uphill left right combination, once I'd followed the Merc 190 in front of me though it you were gone....... smile
