And if you want to go, don't wait to long to order your grandstand tickets. Yesterday I received the Goodwood Road Racing Club's information about 2007 membership renewals. Today I renewed and discovered that already some grandstands aren't available anymore (i.e. sold out) (Crossroads, Park and Pheasantry on Saturday)

So, from the three days, Friday through Sunday, which is generally perceived as the best to go to ?
IMHO it doesn't matter much, all days are great. Saturday and Sunday are busier obviously, but if you want to enjoy a more quiet visit to the paddock, you just have to stay to the end of the day when the paddock can be unbelievably quiet considering what is there to admire.

I think this is the weekend after Le Mans is it not? What an amazing 10 days
It is. Should be great, just like in 2005
Missed out in 2006 for the first time in years. Quite shocked to see that a grandstand ticket is now £74, but given how successful the FoS seems to be I suppose it's not surprising. I found that for the first time in 2005 I found it too crowded. anyone else feel the same? How was 2006? Don't mind paying a bit more I supopse if it keeps numbers down a bit - should they be limiting general entrance more?
Also notice that it's not possible to choose your seat in a grandstand anymore - that's a real put off. I thought the old booking system was great as there's quite a difference between seats in the stands (particularly if you are taking a camera). Anyone else agree?

Thanks Neil - I think the tickets were only pre-bookable when I went last in 2005 also. It just seemed impossible (especially in the area in front of the house, and near the F1 paddock) to move. I'd never seen it like that and have been going for years. Just wondered whether they've got too greedy with it.
But I dare say it's still a wonderful event, perhaps just not quite as wonderful as before it was "discovered" by the non petrolhead crowd. And at least they keep innovating and adding to it (the rally stage for example which is cracking).

2005 (Saturday) was the first year we went, and it did seem busy.
Am going to sort full-weekend tickets out this year, so should be a bit more relaxed.
One question - are the grandstands worth it? I'm a bit of a shutterbug and am wondering whether a grandstand seat will be a benefit or too restrictive and I won't use it that much.

I would say they are certainly worth it, especially if you go on Friday as well, because then you have access to all grandstands. In 2005 we booked Molecomb which was good and this year Crossroads which was great. For next year we booked Park.
Please note that - contrary to what I mentioned earlier - Park is still available, I contacted Goodwood and it turned out that when I booked initially (online) they erroneously had marked Park as non-available, so they changed my order to Park. I just checked and Park is still available and so is Pheasantry.

Thanks Virage!
Am I right in thinking that the Friday grandstand tickets are 'open access, grab a seat', while the Sat/Sun tickets are specific grandstand (and specific seat?)?
Looking at it, not sure I'd want a grandstand ticket for the whole weekend, 1 day would probably be enough...do you reckon they'd do that?

I don't think you're right there. Since I threw away my tickets (afterwards) I am not 100% sure, but as I recall I received grandstand tickets for the Fridays as well, which tickets gave access to all grandstands.
