I usually travel down daily as not that far away but wondered if it my be possible for this to become a little bit of a a Le Mans excursion with camping from the Thursday and stay till the Monday. Get a PH gathering all in one campsite - Maybe even get in touch with one now and see if we can take an entire site over for next year (or maybe even just a local farm but that would mean no showers or toilets). Barby's in the evening, maybe even some beer, think it could be fun......

How's about it then PH massive, anyone interested in such a thing? Did anyone camp this year and find a site within striking distance. I wonder if Lord March would have any spare fields .

An approach to the organisers would be good. Perhaps something inside could be arranged.
Even though I live local the idea is still sound.
Don't forget whatever site you find will need to cope with vertically challenged car under-bodies.

Geez, not sure we will find a campsite big enough to cope with this sort of demand chaps.

Maybe it's too soon to start thinking about next year, I might make some tentative enquiries in the meantime and bump this thread early '07.

I thought about putting a tent up in my garden - does that count?

That's ok. Will do.....however it'll cost you a grand for the pitch - per day.

I was exhibiting at the event, and camped from Wednesday to Monday in the xhibitor campsite - great fun, pretty busy, and only 5 minutes from the excellent Anglesey Arms in Halnacre! No queuing in the morning - very civilised! Will be camping next year!!!

Yeah, Sinc, good idea: we hotelled it in Portsmouth Friday night but thanks to traffic and Sally Sat-Nav, only got there at 8, so the night out was short....You have my support

That sounds good to me! I've camped out at a family oriented campsite in the past with a few friends. It was Bunn Leisure or something like that. They had a pretty large field with built in covered bbqs. We've always had a pretty good time there - though they're lacking in pubs!

Well it has slightly paperbag ... have a few bits on at the mo but will do some investigating once things have quietened down. If someone knows a suitable site and wants to make a provisional enquiry about a block booking then go right ahead and report back. TBH half mentioned this to my wife and it didn't go down enormously well as an idea, might be that having suggested it, I now gently retreat and hide head for being under the thumb

Regarding camping in the grounds, on the way in to the car park there was a small camp site with around 15 cars parked up.

Maybe interested in the parking Idea as would like to spend the whole weekend there next year

Just watched the FoS which I'd recorded from last week and decided I should make an effort and get to this next year.......then saw this thread.

I'd definitely be interested in a few days down there.

I'd thought about doing this, (although I may have ended up using a hotel!) and then the BTCC calendar came out and put their Oulton Park weekend on the same weekend rolleyes So now I'm just popping down for the firday before driving all the way up to Oulton park. That's after already going up to Silverstone on the Thursday for F1 testing. It'll be a busy week!

The best campsite IMO is EAST Wittering, the others u cannot book ahead and always fill up very quick. East Wittering is a lot bigger (with shower blocks) also and right next to the village where they have 2 or 3 places to eat and drink, last time I was there one of the bars had Karaoke too yikes
