Goodwood Revival...?

Ok, so Ted has kindly given us a Goodwood forum, better start asking some question. 
Despite being a member of the GRRC, I have not yet managed to make it to the Revival
Who has been, and more importantly who has been on the Friday?
Whilst definite that I am going to squeeze a day in this year, it might still only be the one. Friday is looking the most popular with Mrs Cloth so my question is, is Friday any good? I know it is just practice but do you get cars just tootling around or do they look like they are trying. Not really too bothered if they are actually racing each other or not but don't want to watch cars that are just cautiously saving themselves for the weekend.
Also are there other bits to do and see, still deciding on whether kids should be coming with or not and they will get bored if it just sitting and watching.

Revival is the better of the two Goodwood Events for several reasons - one of which is that it is a genuine competitive event. Friday is an excellent day, no racing but plenty of proper (hard charging)track action.
There are loads of extra things to do and look at - it`s eminently suitable for children.
Can`t beleive a member of the GRRC hasn`t been to the "main event"...

Cheers for that, Friday sounds like a goer then, I also imagine it will be less busy as the Times don't (or haven't yet) done a big giveaway and most will favour the proper racing at the weekend. Big aim of mine is to get some decent pics so could be to my advantage.
I know about the last bit, shocking. It is certainly not for lack of trying but it has almost been like a conspiracy to keep me away these last few years - things just keep coming up.

I think it is defo worth it (it is like 2-3 tanks of petrol a year at the end of the day). You get some nice forward parking, 10% off the tickets, members enclosures (albeit not trackside) which serves food & drinks where you can escape the crowds for a bit. At the Revival, I understand you get also access to the paddock which is not seemingly open to the public, obviously not done this yet so can't comment any more but it sounds good.
They have also recently launched "The Kennels" which is clubhouse for the golf but also open to all members of the GRRC and the AeroClub, it is stunning, like a posh London club with lounge, library, restaurant and bar.
There is an open house in August for members which I am going to as well andt they also run a load of events, dinners, track days etc for members, overseas trips etc. these are exclusive to members albeit at additional cost.
Get your name down though as there is a hefty waiting list, am sure mine took about 18 months to 2 years so you will have some time to think about it

What he said. Get a Grandstand ticket though. The best stuff happens on the track and you will want somewhere comfy to sit and see it.
And I really must get my ticket sorted out.
I would not miss the Revival under any circumstances, I have been going since the very first one and go on all 3 days. I would also say that you should try and would all the circuit as there are some truly graet vantage points out at the back of the circuit and generally it's a tad quieter out there too.
I would also say that you should try and dress up (not that I'm saying you're scruffy you understand) as I have noticed in the last couple of years that more and more people get into the spirit of the event by either wearing period clothing or even just a modern suit combo.
I have never been to en event that really touches me in a way that the Revival does and I for one cannot wait until Sept. The racing is absolutely fantastic and this is finished off by a truly magical ambience created by Charles and his team with a totally period look to the whole circuit.
Not to be missed.

Fear not, I plan to Spiv it up with the best of them, even thinking about growing a quick tache .....
Oh and don't worry, I would say I am normally sruffy
in fact I made a special effort to tidy myself up for Le Mans 
Go go go go. Its magic. Better than the FoS, I think, maybe. No, maybe not, just different. FoS is better for mates and boys, whereas I take my missus to Revival and she loves being able to put her glad rags on.
Friday is a good warm up day - not too busy and plenty of time to see things.

I have done Goodwood festival of speed, even driven the track several times with Mythril but I'm a Revival virgin. This is to be fixed this year. I have a ticket including Grandstand but no clobber. I want to get some period clothes (see myself as a RAF Officer). Does anyone know where I can hire some gear in Essex?
