With a little over two weeks to go until the MM, given the relentless rain we’ve had recently I was wondering if anyone has driven past the circuit and seen what state the fields are in and whether they’ve started putting any matting down yet?
Was thinking it would be nice to drive one of the classics down for at least one of the two days but I’m currently leaning towards the Disco as the sensible choice.
I remember a few times previously when it was pretty grim getting in and out of the car parks!
Anyone else currently in two minds?!!

Yep, got to say I’m a bit concerned about bringing my car down at the moment.

Maybe they are planning to do what they did once before for Supercar I think, which was park us all up at the racecourse which has hard standing parking and then run everyone down to the circuit via a bus link?

Driving back from Guildford last night, I would say the fields in this part of Surrey are pretty much fully saturated as the standing water was horrific & I would be surprised if it isn’t the same down at Goodwood.

We are doing our very best to protect the fields ahead of the event, but the weather gods are not currently smiling upon us! I would definitely recommend, if you have a choice, bringing whichever mode of transport you have that is best equipped to deal with the possibility of very wet (and pot-holed) roads and rather muddy fields. With best wishes, Sarah

Hi Sarah, thank you very much for the update, it does not sound good. frown

I am surprised that the 'racecourse' option is no longer viable though, especially as you have events following pretty quickly after Members but hopefully it will all play out okay.

Sounds like I will be changing to another car though. frown

As I expected Sarah. Thanks for the update.
It might well be the four wheel drive then unless by some miracle we have a period of more than a few days when it doesn’t rain and warms up a bit!

The racecourse doesn’t have public hard standing car parks but being on top of the hill and on the hill water doesn’t hang around as much to saturate it. The last breakfast club that used the horse race track was still pretty slidey in places.

My memory really isn't what it should be, could have sworn it was hard standing in places. But I am old and the light is dim....

Given the news said the river Arun has broken its banks, due to the rain and parts of littlehampton are flooded, my guess is it’s still going to be very wet

My two choices of car are a 911 Carrera T or my wife’s Boxster. Sounds as though it would be unwise/ madness to bring either?

looks like we're taking the old mans 4 series bmw..... seems thoroughly inappropriate given the likely conditions, but what the hell.......

Having just got to campsite E the ground is not to bad. Most of it is firm, but there are boggy patches. It will be interesting to see how any high use areas hold up - but there should be no more rain for the weekend.

Encouraging and good to hear first hand from the circuit.

We are about 25 miles east of Goodwood and today has been a lovely warm, breezy day which must surely be helping conditions.

This suggests it’s been a dry-ish week.

The principal tracks have hard-core/stones of some kind now, don’t they?

But if you see an old, stuck, orange 911 - send help grumpyhehe
