Going for the 1st time with my eldest on the Saturday. Whilst I am fully prepared for an early morning drive to get there for when the car parks open (4 hours or so from Notts), I am also toying with the idea of parking in Portsmouth and getting the train to Chichester + the free shuttle bus. Anyone used the shuttle before ?

Done it a couple of times, buses coming back always seem to wait around for ages for passengers so no guarantee of what train you might be able to catch out from Chichester.

Brum_Brum,

I'm sure you're overthinking this.

It would be better to just make sure you arrive into the circuit car parking just before the main crowd begins to arrive.

I do the Revival so know the times that work for that event.

The FOS guys will let you know what arrival time is good.

Another thought about your 4 hour drive down.

If you book, say a Premier Inn in the Farnborough area, it means you will have a decent sleep and then a sub one hour drive down. Meaning, you will have more energy for the day.

The one hour to the venue parameter means that you would be out of the expensive hotels circle that'll be booked up anyway.

I hope this adds a new bit of dimension to your trip.

Just leave yourself a decent margin with train times. The bus service works well but cannot be expected to run to a strict timetable. There are plenty of places to get food and drinks within a five minute walk of Chichester station.

We are actually stopping over the Saturday eve afterwards just the other side of Portsmouth. Whilst I can cope with getting up early and having a full day at the event, I didnt fancy driving back home afterwards. Will keep in mind your suggestion should we repeat the visit again smile

Thanks, trains seem to run every half hour or so - not too long a wait, guess I need to make a decision what to do. Main thing that concerns me if I chose to park at Goodwood is how crazy the traffic is when leaving (I would stay as late as possible)
