Looking to finally get to the FOS this year after my lad has pestered me for the last few years and we've been unable to go due to either work or Covid. So we're going as a reward for his dedication towards completing his GCSE's and for all his hard work over the last couple of years. He's an absolute car nut and looking to go into motorsport engineering.

We're travelling down from Cheshire on the Friday night and looking to spend the weekend at the FOS. I don't know the area and am looking to locate a reasonably priced B&B or motel nearby for the Friday and Saturday nights. Travelling back up on the Sunday evening.

I've had a look and can find nothing that's available that's nearby (within ~5 miles) and not a fortune nearby, so was hoping some of you guys might know of some good places, and more than I can find on the net

Check out Lo-Tide in Elmer. Elmer and Selsey are decent places to be in terms of relatively easy access to and from Goodwood

You won’t find anything cheap that hasn’t been booked since the dates were announced last year within 10-15miles of Goodwood. The expensive rooms available are probably the rooms that hotels cancel when they realise guests have figured out the dates before they’ve added a price rise so cancel the cheaper bookings.

I travel in from Fareham/Portsmouth for all Goodwood events and if you leave at a good time it’s no more than a 30-45min journey. So would spread your search a bit further, Winchester, Basingstoke, Petersfield, Alton would give you a great drive to FoS.

I've never done it but you can camp at GoodWood. https://www.goodwood.com/globalassets/motorsport/f...

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

From anyone who's been to the FOS, can you get round everything in a day, including watching the hill climb and some rallying? I was thinking of maybe making a full weekend of it if there's too much for one day, although trying to persuade my mate, who's brining his lad too, to stay in a Travel Lodge for an extra night might be a tough sell.

There is too much for one day, unless you are jogging around.

I have been every weekend since it started and it takes me 2 days to see everything - the rallying, for example, is quite a stroll from the main event.

I'm looking at tickets and there's limited availability for the Saturday, but all fine for the Sunday, but which I thought was the big hill climb day, Shootout Sunday. Is there something that happens on Saturday's at the FOS that I'm missing and should really attend? Driver meets or car demos or something?

Saturday is a slightly longer day running til about 7 and Sunday til 5ish from memory. As many people come for the day Saturdays at Goodwood events have always been the most popular.

... yes and most people are back to work on Monday so don't want to travel for hours on the Sunday home....
