So this will be my first Goodwood event this weekend and my question is what sort of time do you need to arrive to not be sat in queues of traffic for ages?

Are there even traffic problems with the Revival event?

Any guidance from those who've been before much appreciated as I'm trying to work out how early I need to get up!

Thanks

The earlier the better, but it doesn’t tend to be too bad - the traffic is quite well managed on the whole. You might have some crawling traffic for a mile or two along the A27 and up to each roundabout but it tends to move ok. Go as early as you can manage comfortably so you can enjoy more of the event anyway! Tune into Goodwood radio in the traffic jam too to help you get into the spirit; there are normally signs telling you the frequency. Enjoy!

Rule of thumb for me for the past 15 plus years is aim to get there for about 8am or thereabouts. Not only do you avoid the worst of the traffic but you get chance to get some great photos of the cars in the paddocks before it gets too busy. Enjoy it- I’m sure you’ll love it!

I was thinking of aiming to arrive shortly after 8 so sounds like I'm on the right track. That means leaving home at 5:30.

I did it one year for the FoS and drove straight into the car park without any queue. I’m going on Saturday and was tempted to do the same again (arrive for mini race), but not sure I’m brave enough..

I've done it a couple of times, and drove straight in at that time - zero queues. But, I had to contend with heavy traffic on the M25 (as opposed to light traffic when I usually leave at stupid o'clock). So, I guess it depends on where you're coming from?

Heading down A33 from Reading tomorrow, late morning. Thinking there will be more traffic along the B2146 & B2141 ?

We are locals and were astounded to find a queue at the top of Cocking hill on the Midhurst road at 10.15pm. As we were low on petrol, went back to Midhurst, filled up, and nipped through to Duncton. That was fine up to the right turn towards the race course on the top of the Downs, but then got into a queue that crawled all the way down the hill to car parks, probably taking 45m. Yet no queue coming down from the racecourse. I think we just hit it at the really wrong time. No queue coming home this evening at 17.45 although we didn't have to get out of the car parks, which probably would have been a problem. Good luck. Lovely day incidentally; walked the circuit as usual and lots of space (and bars and pubs) around the circuit for viewing. Grandstands pretty empty at Lavant. Would recommend inside of Madgwick; I didn't watch from there but it looks a good spot. More and more places to sit and drink which makes it so easy and pleasant.

Left Newbury at 7:15 this morning and rolled in at about 8:45. The only queue we had was at the gates to the carpark, which was about 10 mins from the queue to pulling up the handbrake.............. as for finding the car to go home............. that was fun.......
